It sounds like ditching the Q6600 is probably the best course of action. I already have a media server, so can't reuse it for that as AQ_QC suggested. I'll respec accordingly. Thanks!
Last summer, my primary computer's mainboard died. I took it as an opportunity to upgrade my system to an i7 2600 due to doing a lot of multithreaded computations. Most of my peripherals (DVD drive, card reader, video card, hard drives) were able to go into the new setup, but I'm left with a...
By the sounds of what the OP's said, he might try an overclock to 3.0 or 3.2 first (as BIOHazard87 suggested) and see how it goes. In my case, going back to 2.4 after a few years at 3.0 rendered it significantly slower and laggy, and I missed the speed immediately. The GA-P35 that he's using...
I've figured out what's up, but it looks like Auzentech has as well. True multichannel plays fine, but XMSS-3D and DTS Neo:PC both fail to do any channel expansion from 2.0 to 5.1 (you'll only get audio from front left and front right). Auzentech seem to know about Neo:PC, as the known bugs...
Have you tried RC7 yet? I was having the same problem using the official release with DTS and also had it with RC6, but the issue went away with RC7. Unfortunately, my mike pickup is underamped and static-filled again (and the RC sets don't have DTS), so it's a tradeoff.
I've been trying RC6 out and find the DDL output to be a bit more reliable when running than 1.02, but an annoying bug's cropped up -- whenever I go into a deep suspend mode in Vista (hit the power button in the start menu), DDL cuts out and can't be restarted. In prior versions, this...
Are you sure you're not confusing the mobo-based sensor (which approximates Tcase) and the internal CPU sensor (usually equivalent to Tjunction)? The BIOS frequently reports the former, Core Temp reports the latter. A big temperature differential is expected between them, with Tjunction always...
Got it, I think (three hours stable with video on constant loop and counting, where the farthest it ever got before was one and a half). I had to max out the FSB volts at 1.5 AND bump both the HT and NB voltages a few notches to get it stable. My final voltages are:
vCore: 1.3625 (shows as...
Tried a variety of NB and HT overvolt settings last night -- nothing was stable enough to last for over an hour of video playback (can't say anything for Prime, though as the volts are higher, I'd expect it to last like before but with a temperature cost).
I can't even scale the OC back to a...
PCIe is locked to 100. I found that Auto volts on the Northbridge was setting it to 1.20 even after OC, so I bumped it to 1.35 and am giving that a try now. Auto volts on the FSB set it to 1.4, and setting it any lower resulted in crashes before boot completed, so I left it there. Should I...
In other words, I reverted to stock clocks and no longer had the issue, making me pretty sure it's overclock related. I left a video file on constant loop while I was out today with the system set back to stock as a test and came back to find it still chugging along, so I'm pretty sure now that...
The video card is an EVGA 8800 GTS 320 MB at stock speeds. I wanted to sort out the CPU overclock before moving on to the video card.
All drivers are, of course, completely up-to-date.
I may have infodumped a bit too much in my original post. In any case, I'm still looking for answers concerning an irregular BSOD that I've been getting with my overclock, and wonder if anyone knows what's going on.
As mentioned before, my system's a Q6600 (B3) on an eVGA 680i (A1) mobo...
This is my first time OCing in quite a few years, so despite reading up on updated terminology and software, I'm afraid that I'm green all over again on some matters. Any help that can be provided would be much appreciated.
I've recently completed a new build based around an eVGA 680i mobo...
