Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Hello,
I just finished building a Skylake i5 Gaming system with the following specs:
CPU: Intel i5-6600k
MoBo: GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170X-Gaming 7
Memory: 16GB DDR4
HD: Samsung Pro 950 256GB NVME M.2 SSD
Video: GTX 970
I upgraded from a previous machine so I have the following spare SSD's:

What BIOS Version are you on?
Looks like 2205 adds NVMe support:
Z97-A BIOS 2205
1. Implement 5th-Generation Intel Core Processors code
*Full support of the new CPU requires necessary driver updates.
2. Support ASUS USB 3.1 PCIE add-on card
3. Support NVMe...
I ordered the XPS 13 with the QHD Display. It is replacing a i7 15" HP Laptop and a iPad2 that I rarely used.
Order date of 2/8 with an estimated next business day delivery of 2/16.
HyperV installed with no VM's running would have negligible overhead on your system. There is a service running but that is about it. On your system listed in your Sig, you won't notice a difference if it was running or not.
As to your question about VMware player Pro/Free, I would suggest...
I agree this is best practice for enterprise solutions, but for personal use I think this is a bit overkill. Out of all of the HD's I have ever purchased, I have only had one bad drive. Not worth the effort of hours or days of testing to see if a drive is bad.
I have finished setting up the system and ran a bit of Prime95 Stress Testing:
Old Setup:
Idle with Case Closed: ~80c
Idle with Case Open: ~69c
New Setup
Idle with Case Closed: ~38c
Loaded with Case Closed: ~68c
(Prime95 running Stress Test for 5.5 hours)
I had ended up ordering the Noctua off of Egg before seeing the follow up posts and I also did not see the Cooler Master Evo when perusing the Egg. This is probably due to the way they sort Intel socket coolers.
After receiving the Noctua, I am impressed with it's size and apparent quality. I...
I picked up a Noctua NH-U14S for it, no overclocking in mind and no, I don't have AC. At least not in my computer room. Most of my servers are located in a cool basement but this rig and my gaming rig will be upstairs in a separate yet warm room.
A new portable AC unit may be in order. :)
