So in my last point I mentioned I was disappointed with the Asus VN279Q. Mainly in the color temperature. I decided to keep the monitor even though the color is not the greatest as the text reproduction and black white separation is really good.
I wanted to show what I am talking about...
I unfortunately couldn't bare to use this monitor at 10% brightness. Even 0% is just bearable. It's just too bright. -50% would be perfect. I'll try some of those things you recommended but I don't have high hopes/.
Changing the color temp to anything but natural makes everything blue...

I tried VGA as well as DisplayPort (which is new to me) and the colors were exactly the same as using hdmi to dvi that comes with the monitor.
I am back on the hdmi dvi cable now.
I tried adjusting the brightness,gamma and contrast in the nvidia settings tool but really...
Calibrated the samsung too. It too didn't need much changed according to the windows tool. Though still have the same poor colors that doesn't show good skin tone.
In windows though the color profile was set to limited. I changed to full 0-255 but that didn't help.
Tried this but all the settings were in line with what is set by default. Didn't need to make changes.
On the samsung it was the same. They just look a lot different.
Yeah that one looks very expensive.
I don't use windows but I could install it and try.
Well hdmi to dvi. The nvidia settings tool for my OS (Linux) is marked by default as having the full color range. If I move it down to limited it changes things for the worse. Things still don't...
