    New computer for my Son...

My Son's PC (my old 2500+ @ 3200+) has basically bit the dust. Processor, motherboard, video card, and DVD burner are shot. I think I can salvage the hdd... Any ideas for an inexpensive processor and motherboard that are decent. I think I'll get him a 6800GT for the video card as he does...

Burned DVD's not as good as they could be...

Why are you copying a single layer DVD with DVDShrink? Just thwart the copy protection via your favorite method... then burn with ImgBurn... 1 to 1 copy. Oh, and make sure you own the DVD and are backing it up for personal use only, I don't want to advocate any illegal activity!

Burned DVD's not as good as they could be...

You are correct, if you simply burn to a dual layer disk with no compression you won't have artifacting.

Burned DVD's not as good as they could be...

If you have the DVR-110 it will support dual layer. From what I can see on Adobe's page Premiere Pro can output to DVD... can you just burn straight to DVD from it? If so, and it supports dual layer, and your burner supports dual layer, you should be set.

Burned DVD's not as good as they could be...

No, if you use a dual layer disk you will only have to burn... assuming your burner will burn dual layer DVDs, and assuming Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5 will create some sort of image file. Since there is no "protection" on the source you should just be able to burn the image using ImgBurn. I know...

Burned DVD's not as good as they could be...

What you are doing is a little different than what I normally do... which is back up DVDs. If you made the movie in Ulead Moviemaker what sort of file does it generate? If you can get it to generate a DVD image you might try burning the resulting file with http://www.imgburn.com/ which...

Burned DVD's not as good as they could be...

What was the original source file type? The only compression that would exist would be whatever compression, if any, the original source file type uses unless you did something else to it. A dual layer DVD wouldn't make any difference unless the video was so large that you used something...

    7800GT, CPU Bottleneck

What CPU speed would bottleneck a 7800GT running at 1280x1024? What about 2 7800GT's in SLI? Or is that such a low resolution that the CPU wouldn't be a bottleneck? I'm considering getting my fiance an FW900 off of ebay since she likes to play with graphics and stuff... at 1920x1200 what...
