I think some 3D artists will like this as well. I've read that consumer GPU's are usually limited by their amount of RAM (something about the entire scene that needs to be loaded)
It's not a tesla card, but it might help some.
some follow up questions:
- Is there a way to control the fans? Even stressed the CPU and disk drives remain pretty cool so it should be possible to turn down the noise a bit. Since it has to remain on/near my desk for a while, my ears would appreciate the possibility.

RAID 6 has extra parity, but it still doesn't guarantee correct data by just taking the majority of equal results. However small the chance may be that two drives generate a concurrent error it's not impossible. And if an error occurs during a rebuild of a disk, you're back down to RAID5...
HW raid only has parity, if there is a parity error, there is no way for the array to know is it is due to an error in a data block or in a parity block.
ZFS has an extra hashing check to determine the correct value.
(that is if I'm not mistaking ;) )
PS, the guy just wants to know that to do...
Fight out the math somewhere else.
In short, with 8 drives in RAID10 you would have the same space as 5 drives in RAID5 => not a solution
RAID 6 would give you increased fault tolerance over RAID5, but you would loose another data disk. but it would...
I can't make it out from your post, did you just create the array, or is it an array you created a while ago with data on it?
A newly created array is always empty, any data that was on the drive is as good as lost. You could try to run some serious recovery programs on the individual drives...
I've been thinking to upgrade my Lian-li 343 cube to a 19"rack model with hot swap cages for a while now, then I saw this second hand deal. Now I'm the (hopefully) proud owner of an HP proliant DL180G5.
(Xeon 5405, option for 2nd CPU, 16GB RAM, P400 256mb, 2 * 72GB 15k SAS, seagate 250GB and...
portforwarding has been tested each time on each machine. This always succeeds, on both Win7 and XP.
I just change the IP of all the machines to the IP I did the forwarding to.
The laptop is actually a Win7 machine that works with open NAT.
The goal is to figure out why all my XP PC's show strict NAT, while every Windows 7 PC shows open NAT ingame.
For those not knowing CoD:MW2: This is a message you get ingame, depending on whether IW.net finds an open route to your game.
So the router manages the NAT fine. I know what ports to...
first up, please do the hard thing and read the post before replying. Most questions/suggestions were answered/tried in the original post.
Second, I've tried several fora's without succes, so I just decided to try the [H], I'll list them FYI. Most of the post is just a C/P form these fora
