Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I think we're seeing a LOT of people who are not having, and have not had, any problems with Vista. Cases like this one seem to be a total fluke to me. I've been using Vista for two months, as a power user, with this system (http://misc.rwven.com/system.png) and I haven't encountered any...
Anyone with some patience doesn't need such a guide. Now that I understand how this all works it's going to be easy to get the maximum out of my system.
The more you talk, the less I think you actually get any of this. If your fsb:ram is 266:400 and you raise the FSB to 400, your ram speed is going to be bumped to 600... If you set it to 1:1, your ram will be back to 400mhz which will then MATCH your FSB...
266:400 is basically 1:1.5
That's not all there is to it. If you raise the FSB, you raise the ram speed. Generally ram is less forgiving than CPUs are as far as overclocking goes. The ram will be a limiter in this equation. Right now the ram speed is at a 1:1.5 ratio with the fsb/cpu speed.
I'm going to change...
Thanks for the info :)
I downloaded the manual for the mobo I'm getting and they have a REALLY slick clocking screen. You can adjust everything you want right on one page. Memory clock ratio, voltage, FSB speed, cpu voltage, and everything else important. MSI P965 Platinum manual page #59...
Well, it CAN be that way today, but you're only going to get so far. When you change the FSB speed, lots of things change. If you don't take the rest into account, you're going to end up with a lower overclock and possibly a less stable system
Yeah i looked around and that was the case.
I'm trying to find out what ratios my mobo will support so I can plan on what I want to try it with when I get it.
So, in a 5:4 relationship, would the ram be the 5 or the 4? I'm assuming the ram would be the 4... are there alternatives like a 4:5 or something? I'd prefer not to stretch the cpu all the way to 400mhz since I've only got a cooler that's moderately better than stock. I'm not up for...
I kinda asked this in the overclocking forum, but I thought i'd repost it in here and be a bit clearer in my question:
I've done some overclocking in the past but it's been a while, so I need a bit of a refresher.
I'm building an E6300 Core 2 Duo system for overclocking/gaming. It'll have...
OK, i think i get it. Thanks for your info.
I'm getting some decent ram with the system. It's been used in a LOT of core2duo overclocking tests (Corsair XM2 DDR2 800).
I'm gonna have to research a little more about the ratios and such.
Edit:
Questions-
1) So I may want to...
I'm in the process of building myself a new gaming rig on newegg. ( Wishlist for those who have newegg accounts: https://secure.newegg.com/NewVersion/WishList/MySavedWishDetail.asp?ID=4304932 Any hardware not on there is something I already have...)
I'm getting the Intel C2D E6300 because...
As a 360 owner....this really surprised me. Given the noise that it generates, especially with a game disc inserted, I'd figure that it would be at the top of the field in noise levels...
Gears of War also is the noisiest game to play, by far, and yet it STILL scored lower...
They also seem to be adding new content constantly. Since I started posting in this thread a while back, they have added 20 movies as well as changed the selection out a lot. They've about tripled their TV Show selection as well. I just bought two episodes of space ghost coast to coast last...
Indeed. Their Blu-Ray and HD-DVD selection is quite limited, but I'm sure that will change over time. Is their online selection any better than the in-store one?
