I used my Spyder 3 calibrator this afternoon on the GW2470. Really improved the look of photographs, but the recommended brightness is a bit too bright for me. I lowered the brightness but haven't recalibrated yet. Looks good though.
I'm willing to spend $500-700 (see message #8 above), so...
I don't know if this will be my final choice, but I like it enough that I shipped the Dell U2415 back this morning... :)
I installed the aftermarket stand this morning which lets me lower the monitor down to a more comfortable height. Unfortunately, the feet stick way out in front of the...
I'm still experimenting with the GW2470 and ran into an issue this morning I thought might be a deal breaker. Scrolling black text vertically on a white background resulted in really bad blurring. While trying to decide if it was something I could live with, I discovered the AMA setting in the...
I just unboxed the BenQ GW2470 and plugged it in. As usual, the monitor comes defaulted with the brightness cranked up, so the first thing I did was lower the brightness to 27, change the contrast to 30, and the sharpness to 3. I'll probably tweak those later on as I use the monitor more, but...
I have not noticed any gamma or color shift with the Dell U2415, it just has a really bad glow to it. I don't know the difference between backlight bleed and IPS glow to know which it is, but it's really hard on the eyes. Black text on a white background is especially hard to read.
I did not...
The BenQ GW2470H is supposed to arrive Monday, so it will be interesting to compare with the Dell U2415.
Years ago someone pointed out the black crush and gamma shift on my old Samsung P193+ monitor. I had never even noticed it before, and it certainly never bothered me once I knew it was...
The U2415 is the third IPS monitor I've tried over the last few years and every single one of them has had this weird shimmer effect and/or were so bright it hurt my eyes to look at them on even the lowest setting. I've also found the viewing angles to be MUCH, MUCH less than the advertised 178...
24" is about the max I can fit on my desk. No interest in curved monitors.
I'll take a look at the FG2412. It's a bit more than I was wanting to pay, and the reviews seem mixed, but I'm willing to pay for a good monitor.
Another annoyance I've seen with my U2415 IPS monitor; black text on a...
I've been using a Samsung P193+ VA based monitor for over ten years. Absolutely love it, except the 1280x1024 resolution is not ideal for video editing. I tried a couple of IPS based monitors a few years ago, but couldn't stand the IPS glow and returned them.
I decided to give it another try...
I am most likely going to stick with my 193P+ a while longer, as monitor technology seems to have taken steps backward instead of getting better. Very disappointing.
While the majority of my time is spent sitting in front of the monitor, we also spend a fair amount of time standing next to the desk while the other shows something they are doing. Occasionally, we even watch from a chair back off to the side a bit. So, while the "extreme" angles aren't...
If you still have both monitors, could you take some pictures showing the two monitors together. One shot from the front, one from each side at an angle, and one looking down from above (like I posted of my 193P+). Video would be awesome if you're able to post it somewhere (youtube?).
The...
While the older monitors sound nice (244T, HP 2465, etc.), they're hard to find and don't come with any kind of return policy. After my experience with the U2311h, I'm not willing to take that chance.
The Eizo monitors sound OK, but are on the upper end of my price range, and I can't find...
I have been considering the F2380's. Apparently the F2380MX version is not available here in the US, so are there any glaring flaws with the regular F2380's?
I'm not sure if input lag is the same as the monitor response time, but my 193P+ is rated at something like 20ms and I have never...
Walker,
NOW you tell me... :)
I suppose there's a slight luminance change on the gray background as I move from side to side, but that is EXTREMELY minor compared to what I was seeing on the U2311H.
For example, here are four quick shots of my P193 from different angles. They're a little...
