Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I have a Corsair 850 and I am running 2 290X cards with no problem what so ever. having 2 390X's may change the story a bit so you would want the 1000 watt PSU.
Any monopoly will charge monopoly driven prices, but Nvidia is the 900 lb gorilla here not AMD. I may be mistaken but I can not recall in the last few years when their cards(Nvidia) that are in the same class as AMD cards cost less.
I stopped looking at Toms Hardware reviews years ago when they forced out the founder. Here was a guy that was not looking at the bottom line so much but wanted to give honest reviews on products.
We still have to remember that AMD is the only reason Nvidia does not charge probably 50% more...
The new cards will have new silicon 'GCN 1.2' . AMD said they wer going to have a 4k downsample fix in the Jan/Feb timeframe. Tomorrow is March1! If they get it to work I think it woll take a bigger hit on framerates. I thoughts on my last statement was lookkng at the whole package of goodies...
What games have suddenly come out that you want to play on a 7970 that won't play well at 1080P? If you are worried about $50 then I would say turn down your settings and save up you money for the R3xx series. You will lose more than $50 when you go to sell it because most likely there will be...
OK, so I did some experimenting over the weekend. I am kinda disappointed that an earlier poster was spot on when he/she said that it would not work on Eyefinity. It does not work on more than 1 monitor with a simple multimonitor setup either. You can however choose which monitor it will work...
That is the beauty of forums, not everyone is connected 24/7. It is good to come back and easily catch up without wading through 50 pages of post on a topic. I have 2 R9 290's and 1 R9 290x and I just heard about the Omega driver a week ago.
It helped at least one person, so I call it a win.
Doing some math on the resolution possibilities on multi-monitor setups.
An R9 290 can do 3 2560*1600 monitors simultaneously, that is 12,288,000 pixels
With VSR I should be able to run 3) 1920*1200 monitors @ 2560*1600 AND 2) 2560*1440 monitors @ 3200*1800 (11,520,000 pixels).
Is this...
Thanks guys, something else to tryout this weekend. I also wonder if you mix and match then what happens if you drag and drop to another screen. Hopefully the same thing that happen when you are not running VSR on multiple monitor setups.
BTW when I said Eyefinity, I meant multiple monitors...
On http://wccftech.com/amd-catalyst-omega-driver-officially-launched-brings-performance-improvement-gpusapus-4k-vsr-tressfx-30-5k-monitor-support-freesync/#ixzz3SD01F26FI I found this:
AMD 4K VSR (Virtual Super Resolution) technology is similar to NVIDIAs 4K DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution)...
