I have a Corsair 850 and I am running 2 290X cards with no problem what so ever. having 2 390X's may change the story a bit so you would want the 1000 watt PSU.
Any monopoly will charge monopoly driven prices, but Nvidia is the 900 lb gorilla here not AMD. I may be mistaken but I can not recall in the last few years when their cards(Nvidia) that are in the same class as AMD cards cost less.
I stopped looking at Toms Hardware reviews years ago when they forced out the founder. Here was a guy that was not looking at the bottom line so much but wanted to give honest reviews on products.
We still have to remember that AMD is the only reason Nvidia does not charge probably 50% more...
The new cards will have new silicon 'GCN 1.2' . AMD said they wer going to have a 4k downsample fix in the Jan/Feb timeframe. Tomorrow is March1! If they get it to work I think it woll take a bigger hit on framerates. I thoughts on my last statement was lookkng at the whole package of goodies...
What games have suddenly come out that you want to play on a 7970 that won't play well at 1080P? If you are worried about $50 then I would say turn down your settings and save up you money for the R3xx series. You will lose more than $50 when you go to sell it because most likely there will be...
OK, so I did some experimenting over the weekend. I am kinda disappointed that an earlier poster was spot on when he/she said that it would not work on Eyefinity. It does not work on more than 1 monitor with a simple multimonitor setup either. You can however choose which monitor it will work...
That is the beauty of forums, not everyone is connected 24/7. It is good to come back and easily catch up without wading through 50 pages of post on a topic. I have 2 R9 290's and 1 R9 290x and I just heard about the Omega driver a week ago.
It helped at least one person, so I call it a win.
Doing some math on the resolution possibilities on multi-monitor setups.
An R9 290 can do 3 2560*1600 monitors simultaneously, that is 12,288,000 pixels
With VSR I should be able to run 3) 1920*1200 monitors @ 2560*1600 AND 2) 2560*1440 monitors @ 3200*1800 (11,520,000 pixels).
Is this...
Thanks guys, something else to tryout this weekend. I also wonder if you mix and match then what happens if you drag and drop to another screen. Hopefully the same thing that happen when you are not running VSR on multiple monitor setups.
BTW when I said Eyefinity, I meant multiple monitors...
On http://wccftech.com/amd-catalyst-omega-driver-officially-launched-brings-performance-improvement-gpusapus-4k-vsr-tressfx-30-5k-monitor-support-freesync/#ixzz3SD01F26FI I found this:
AMD 4K VSR (Virtual Super Resolution) technology is similar to NVIDIAs 4K DSR (Dynamic Super Resolution)...
WOW, Thanks for the quick reply. Since it has increased the eyefinity monitors to 6 do you have any info on the total desk top resolution it is capable of? will it do all six at supersampling or "just" four?
These are the monitors I currently have;
3) 2560*1440
5) 1920*1200
1) 4K
Getting free...
I do financial work and the more resolution the better for graphs and charts. I currently have 2560*1440 monitors. Will this allow me to have a desktop to display my Charts and graphs at 3200*1800 resolution on my R9 290's?
Thanks
I can't believe no one has put Generals on the list yet. Its demise was a real letdown after all the hype around it . Bring back "WESTWOOD STUDIOS" to remake all the old C&C games with todays HD tech. I bought an extra copy of the serialized games from Westwood and still have them in un-opened...
GUYS.................
Newegg wants $850.00 Visiontek wants $600 for the Cryo R9 290. You can buy the card at that price directly from Visiontek. The preorder cards were $550 but now they are charging $600 which is a fair price IMHO. Now we may have a glimpse what the 800 pound gorilla wants...
1. This is a mass market item, not catering to the uber-small markets like Occulus Rift development
2. Higher res screen than what?
I already mentioned 4K and the limitation of the panels. I really do not think that the first consumer version of the Occulus Rift is going to be 4K but 1080 OR...
What games are coming where there would be a significant need for the benefits of a 20nm process? The only tech we can use that can really benefit is 4K in my opinion and we have not seen the new 60FPS/HZ monitors arrive yet. I think we are really good for a while with out the 20nm chips being...
I have been a FOREX trader since 1998 and I feel no need to lose any sleep whatsoever either. The people saying the government is trying to kill it, need to get a grip.

This is a 9 part article, so be sure you read the whole thing and not just the first page.
Maybe, but I was referring to the R9 single chip cards. Usually it is more than one reason, but the card partners were prevented by AMD from offering anything else when it could have been either easily done OR possibly the chip was not capable which I have addressed in another post. It is...
Now I think I understand why none of the R9 cards even the custom ones have 6 mini DP outputs like the 5870 Eyefinity6 cards did. I was told that AMD would not allow the card makers to deviate from the 2-DVI, 1-DP, 1-HDMI standard.
I had a couple of 5870's in Xfire starting in 2010. In December I finally upgraded to a 290. During thattime I played all the Crysis games and Farcry3. I wanted a single card that could beat the Xfire setup I had. It was not a question of money because during that time I went from (3)1920 *1200...
Oh, Please...........
Now please tell me in what context can the word 'gay' now be properly used. Political correctness runs amock again. Let's stick with helping find computer related solutions not social engineering.
If it is a weak system PSU wise, it probably can not handle a card that needs extra power. It probably has a 250-350Watt PSU. The 750 Ti recommendation stands imho.
EDIT:
I just checked specs on that machine. It has a 280 Watt PSU. so it is probably borderline if it can use even the...
I am a big AMD fan BUT...for a temp replacement I also like the Nvidia 750Ti. I think the resale on it will be good also because it is a new breed of GPU's. Possibly by the time you are ready to upgrade the 20nm process will be ready.
I, as a foreign currency trader see that you seem to have a good grasp of the situation. The only thing I might add is that the miners are the ones actually creating wealth.(basically a paraphrase of what you said) Traders are just capitalizing on it. Current market dip could also be because a...
If you own a house and the value goes up in 2013 do you pay for that increase immediate in that tax year? No!!! when you sell it, your capital gain is realized, and the tax is paid.
I am a foreign currency trader, and have been since 19998. Rule were changed a few years ago to try to enforce...
Why is anyone expecting anything to be rock solid, RIGHT NOW. Nothing ever is. This is only the beginning of the government trying to get its head around the new 'currency' and how to treat it. Everything is incremental.
For all intents and purposes they have legitimized it. Those calling for it to be outlawed have just been vetoed. The government is looking for a way to track all income a person has so they are looking at this intently as a means of doing so.
Lets say everyone has a wallet, BUT to have...
This is an expansion from my earlier post...
I had 2-2gb ASUS eyefinity6 cards in CF that I upgraded from in November to R9 290's. Through that time I played Crysis 1-3, Farcry 3 amongst others. Also during that time I upgraded from 1080P to 1440P. Maxwell hold te promise of lower power usage...
Cybervenom by Visiontek was the first to put on a factory installed waterblock on a 290 and they can not keep them in stock. Theirs does NOT have a fan, just a block and they are selling all they can make.
I would WAIT at this point. Unless you must have or want to stick with AMD. We are almost 6 months into a new card and about 6 month out from the next generation. Also Maxwell from Nvidia has GREAT promise. What can't you play now with what you have?
