    4870 question (stability and temps)

    After 2 years of having the 4870, this weekend I finally got around to clean it. I used to have load temps of 90+ degrees with 100% fan. I used MX-4 and cleaned the whole cooling solution and now I have load temps of 50 degrees with 30% fan. A good cleaning can do wonders.

    It is as simple as this for single GPUs: ATI had the performance crown with 5870 until 480. nVidia has the performance crown since 480, but now with 580. As most powerful graphics card goes: 5970 is still the fastest since its launch.

    A few months now I have a problem with my 4870. It's driving me crazy. The card overheats if it runs at default speeds (750/900) to the point where I get a heart attack ... a few days ago I saw 118 C on the GPU and about 125 C on the GPU memory :eek: . I think it is because of all the dust...
