Wow, that's an even better deal than I had anticipated, thanks! Still looking for reviews of this display or direct experience from [H] members!

Anyone tried the Viewsonic VX2433 ?

My local Costco has these new at $269. 24" 1080P screen with 2ms refresh times and 170 degree viewing angle. Viewing angle was noticeably better than the 23" Samsung it was sitting next to and it seemed to have rich vibrant colors without any noticeable splotching. It has both a DVI and...

    Samsung 226BW 22": 3000:1 Contrast, 2ms response time

I believe that he has used calibration settings provided from other reviews, etc, of the display and still has not been satisfied with the performance. Honestly, if this panel looks that bad to someone they should get rid of it. Suck it up and spend $600 to get a 20" IPS panel or get a...

    Samsung 226BW 22": 3000:1 Contrast, 2ms response time

You are entitled to your opinion. I don't think you can do any better for $300'ish though.

    Samsung 226BW 22": 3000:1 Contrast, 2ms response time

OK, you could try running the monitor from another computer and see if you get the same results. Have you turned off all of the special processing in the monitor (dynamic contrast, etc) as those will affect things. I would recommend using "custom" mode which has those things turned off. A...

Are you hooked up through DVI or VGA connection and what model video card?

    Samsung 226BW 22": 3000:1 Contrast, 2ms response time

Buy.com just sent me their weekly flyer thing and they are advertising the 226BW for $290 with free shipping after a $20 rebate. At that price it might be worth putting up with getting an A or C panel. Samsung has also declared that the 22" segment is dead. Apparently they will be coming...

    Samsung 226BW 22": 3000:1 Contrast, 2ms response time

Again, it is all relative. Most manufacturers stretch the truth on specifications. Samsung claims 2ms on this panel as well and we all know that is bologna. As an aside, I've begun having a problem with mine where it doesn't seem to go into the power savings mode any longer. Is there some...

    Samsung 226BW 22": 3000:1 Contrast, 2ms response time

Every display device has compromises. With even the best CRTs there is some compromise in the area of screen geometry and focus. With even the best LCDs there are going to be compromises in color accuracy and contrast. What exactly are you expecting from a display that gives you huge 16:9...

    Samsung 226BW 22": 3000:1 Contrast, 2ms response time

If you bought a Ford car that was supposed to come with a very well regarded Ford engine and then later found out that your car had a motor made by Kia which had "roughly the same specifications" as the Ford engine I think you would be outraged, as would most consumers. People usually are...

    Samsung 226BW 22": 3000:1 Contrast, 2ms response time

With calibration the "A" panels are very good, just more backlight bleed than I could handle. If backlight bleeding doesn't bother you then it's no big deal to get an "A" panel.

    Samsung 226BW 22": 3000:1 Contrast, 2ms response time

Some stores also still have the "older" version that has a silver disc as the pedestal base, matches the 226BW a little better and is a bit more attractive in my humble opinion.

The shiny plastic trim thing around the screen.
