Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I happen to have a WD2500JS and a 7200.9 250GB right next to me.
Idle noise : 7200.9 is "+" better than WD2500JS
Seek noise : WD2500JS (with or without AAM) is "++" better than 7200.9
Vibration : WD2500JS is "+++" better than 7200.9
Temperature (via SMART) : 7200.9 is "+++++"...

NO whine on WD2500JS. Note that the JS drives are more silent than the KS ones.
There is seek noise. Enabling AAM does improve seek noise, but not by much. On the other hand, enabling AAM on Maxtor drives, improves seek noise by more.
Samsung drives notwithstanding, Insofar as noise is...
My finger says the drive seems cooler to touch than my other Seagate or Maxtor SATA drives. But it could also mean that there is less heat transfer to the casing of the drive, thus higher temp.
Actually, I tested 3 drives. the Sep-2005 & Nov-2005 ones had high SMART temp, while the older...
Air flow -- a 60mm 12V fan right in front of the drive -- did reduce temp to 46C (HDD was idle). Still, it's 5C hotter than my 3-platter 300GB SATA Maxtor (6L300S0) without air flow.
If temperature data reported by SMART is accurate, it would seem the latest WD2500JS Caviar SE drives are running a bit hot!
I've tested 2 new WD3200JS drives (dated Sep-2005 & Nov-2005) on a 1-drive system with left & right case panels removed; room temp 23°C.
