I have a 4 year old desktop build with 6GB of triple channel ram. I have been given an additional 6GB of triple channel ram that I would like to add to the system. They are same brand, frequency, size and voltage, but the latency is different. Is it okay to combine them? If so, what changes do I...
I need to upgrade the video card in my desktop. Currently I'm running a 4870 and it's just struggling to keep up with BF4. I will list the specs of my pc below...I would like to stay around $200, say $250 max.
Here's my current build...pc is 4.5 years old.
Corsair TX750W
Intel Core i7...
Thanks everybody. Ordered a WD 3TB Red drive today (I know that's a NAS drive, but will only be used for storage) and downloaded crashplan (free). Plan to install in local PC, back up hard drives (to save transferring all the data over the internet) and then remove the drive and reinstall at my...
Understood, but the reality is that the amount of data that I use for my profession is limited ~1GB. Dropbox can handle that for the time being...but the idea of backing up nearly 1TB over my slower DSL connection...scary. ;)
I wish! :) I actually had a number of hard drive crashes in the past and unfortunately I have lost valuable data before. I tried an external hard drive once (it died) and tried an internal RAID 1, but had a virus and of course it affected both drives equally :).
I might go the internal...
Hi all, I need help determining the best solution for backing up the data on my pc. Currently I have about 1 TB of HD photos (30mb+ per photo x 10,000+), videos, etc. that I need to protect before I loose it due to hard drive crash, etc.
I was simply going to get an external hard drive, but...
Hey folks, I have a i7 desktop that I built a couple of years ago with a Raid (1) configuration. Problem is some kind of virus made my drives unbootable. Therefore, I've had to reinstall the operating system. Funny thing is the data on the drives was still intact, so I only formatted one of the...
I've checked all connections, reset cmos, etc. Spoke with Asus tonight after troubleshooting board worked fine for about 15 minutes. Then same problems again. They say it's a bad psu...I've got another at home in my pc just like it...going to swap tomorrow and try again. Thanks for the help.
I've just built a new PC and am having some difficulties and need some advice as I am really new to this. I built the new PC, and started it up...everything was working fine and I was in the BIOS checking a few items and making a few minor changes (boot order, raid, etc.) when all of a sudden...
Back to the drawing board...card crashed again and again. Oh well, talked with the shop that I bought it at and they are going to swap it out for another manufacturer or give me a refund if they can't find a suitable replacement from their vendors. Can't beat service like that!
On second look, latest drivers were not installed. Downloaded the newest set from Asus and installed. Then played AA3 on highest settings for about an hour and card never crashed, no red light. It's too early to say yet, but I'm hoping that the problem is solved. Thanks!
What's the best...
