    GPU running too hot?

I accidentally posted this in the display forum instead of here, so I'm reposting it here. I have an EVGA 8800GTX running at 575Mhz. At idle, Everest reports about 50 degrees, while under load I've seen it as high as 70 or 71 degrees, usually right after the game I've been playing freezes. Is...

    Graphics card too hot?

Hey all, I've been trying to figure out if my graphics card might be getting too hot while playing games on really high settings. I have an EVGA 8800GTX at 575Mhz, and Everest shows the GPU idling at aroung 54 degrees, going to 70 or 71 under load. I didn't find any info on EVGA;s website...

How can I use headphones w/mic and my speakers?

I would like to use my headphones and mic for games, but still use my speakers for music and movies. (Obviously, not at the same time.) Is it possible to have them both hooked up at the same time, or do I have to keep switching back and forth?

    G0 stepping or not?

If you have Everest, under the motherboard option, the cpu section has the stepping clearly listed.

    Fried my new gaming rig!

With a little help, I should have all the new parts today, and have it up and running tonight. A friend from work who is taking computer classes at the local college and is in the computer club has asked the other members of the club to help put it all together and set it up. I was hoping I...

    Fried my new gaming rig!

The main reason I went ahead and RMA'd all of it was simple. Why risk it? Even if some/all of the parts would have worked, they still might have gotten a good sized jolt, which, I would say, could shorten their life or reduce their capabilities. It was not easy to get the money together for this...

    Fried my new gaming rig!

You're telling me! All I could think of was, "Oh god, I've got a $3500 paper weight!!!!" Seems as though Newegg is going to pull through for me though, they got the parts yesterday, and my RMA is now in step 3. ;)

    Fried my new gaming rig!

I was originally asking if any of the parts might be OK, but have since RMA'd almost everything since it was all brand new. I should be getting the new parts next week, I hope.

    Fried my new gaming rig!

A friend at work offered to help me check it over and possibly put a different PSU in to see what else got cooked, so I'll see what we can do. I appreciate everyone's comments and advice! Thanks!

    Fried my new gaming rig!

Thanks, I'll see what I can find. I've emailed Newegg about it, so hopefully I can get a replacement. Currently, the only other system I have is the one I'm using now, and its five or six years old with a dinky little power supply in it.

    GDDR5 Memory Promises 3x Performance of GDDR3

I'm wondering if the reality will even be close to the hype? Guess we'll all find out in a few years or so.
