    The local network always works. I can use several devices to send pings each way and it doesn't miss a beat. When the internet connection drops, I can see it in the status of the Dir-412. It says it is disconnected to the internet and I can see it has no ip address, dns and whatnot thanks

    ^exactly I've repaired a few mice by soldering microswitches. The last I fixed was an MX510 by using microswitches from a Razer Diamondback and it works like a charm. It's also quite easy to solder. The only tricky part is to desolder the switch from another mouse because you need desoldering...
