  • Well P55 is intel turning a $5 soutbridge into a $50 chipset. When they get updated they'll get a new name, Intel isn't big on changing things without a new name. Depending on when they get released, I figure all 3 new tech (PCI-E v3, SATA 6Gbps, and USB 3.0) will all get added to the next gen.

    No, Im just going from history. I haven't seen these chipsets on roadmaps anywhere (nor have I looked at chipset roadmaps at all).
    I was refering to PCH2 (P65) or ICH11 (X68) or whatever they end up being. Mobos with support for USB3 and SATA 6gbps will be out very soon, but the chipsets to support them natively are a generation away. The mobos coming out soon will have seperate chips on the motherboard to control/support those technologies, the native chipsets will have it built into the southbridge.
