Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
HDMI and DVI share a 100% compatible video signal. You can plug any HDMI output into any DVI input, and vice versa, and it will work just the same. All you need is a cheap, passive adapter.
DVI lacks audio support, but if you're buying a monitor without built-in speakers, you'd have to run...
I had another listen, and can't say 100% sure, but it still sounds like it's coming from around the three coils next to the CPU. Doesn't seem like much I can do, since these motherboards haven't been available for years.
I think the old PSU whines a bit. The new one seems totally silent. I don't hear anything coming from the new PSU. Swapping between the two makes no difference to the other whistling noise, so it's definitely something else.
My mistake on the power supply. I don't know why I thought I put an Antec in. It's actually a Cooler Master "eXtreme Power Plus" 460 watt. Seems to be a good PSU.
The CPU fan I put in was a Zalman. I don't have working fan control right now, but it spins pretty slow by default, and I didn't...
Hi everyone
I hope this is the right place to post this. I have a computer that I built about 5 years ago for gaming. The machine was initially built with rather loud fans, but I didn't mind the noise due to the fact that I only used it for gaming with headphones on. I usually used a laptop...
I'm pretty sure this problem is simply that when using HDMI, the graphics driver assumes you're connecting to a TV and not a monitor. And because many TVs overscan, it automatically shrinks the picture so it's not cut off. You should be able to change these settings in your graphics control...
I certainly wouldn't want to go down in resolution. It might be a slight upgrade going from PVA to IPS, but not enough to be worth the resolution drop. If you go for two, however, that would be pretty sweet. I'm a fan of dual displays for productivity, though for movies/games on a single...
I've seen those really high dynamic contrast ratings for LED backlit displays a few times.
LEDs can have a really, really wide range of brightness. It's one huge benefit of LED backlit displays, as they can be really bright at maximum, and really dim at minimum, providing the perfect...
The flickering sounds like a bad backlight... Especially if it lessens after warming up. But if you're seeing a message, the backlight is still working (as well as before, at least). Definitely try the VGA input, though even if VGA works, though, you'll most likely still have the same...
Looking at the pictures, it appears that the CRT is 100% flat, meaning it's an aperture grille tube, like the Sony Trinitron, in this case a Mitsubishi Diamondtron Natural Flat tube. 12"x16" would make it 20" viewable.
I'm pretty sure these displays could do 1600x1200 at at least 85hz, and way...
I may have made a mistake by pre-ordering this... I wanted to install this on a machine with a blank hard drive (Note I do have an XP license, just don't want to install two OSs). I was also assuming I could directly download and burn an ISO on my Mac or Linux machine, as I have no machines...
Has anyone completed this process and can tell us how this exe installation works? I was looking forward to the $30 education copy, but this seems quite strange. I have XP and I want to perform a clean install of 7. I have one HDD with one single partition. How can it possibly do a clean...
Actually, it's resolution combined with refresh rate that increases the load on the electronics. Raising either will, technically, increase load on the monitor and decrease the lifespan. However, the FW900 is designed to run hard, being a high-end professional display. I would recommend using...
20" iMac has an average TN panel
24" iMac has an LG-Philips H-IPS panel, standard sRGB gamut, same as NEC 2490
u2410 has more advanced features for professional photo editing, such a wide gamut and built in LUT, but it's the same H-IPS technology.
