Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Hi,
I would like to post this here as well, after posting in the Storage forum, because it looks like there might be a possible issue with my motherboard.
I have an Asus P9X79 WS mobo that that has an Intel and a Marvell HDD controller. I had a WD RE 4TB drive connected on USB3 through an...
Ok, just out of curiosity, I took the time to run a complete scan error scan with HD Tune and surprise: while the drive is connected via the Marvell chipset, I don't get a single bad/unreadable sector, every single little square is green and I get 0.0% damaged blocks. Just like WD diagnostics...
File entries are removed, they're not left there, they don't clog up anything. Zeroing out the files' sectors would make file deletion take just as long as file copying. Would you like to take an hour to delete 20 HD video files?
Oh wow, C5 went up from D0 to E8, just as we speak.
Raw value for (01) Raw Read Error Rate is 0x12A = 298. DiskInfo shows it in Blue but HdTune shows it in Red - fail. HdTune scan test is running now.
Thanks, that helps!
Btw, switching the failing drive between the Intel and the Marvell controllers shows the same values in DiskInfo, so I know at least that software is reliable.
I did re-format the drive (unchecking "perform a quick format) in Windows and still getting the SMART Quick test...
For 4TB failing drive:
C5 = 0xD0
C6 = 0x96
For 2TB "GOOD" drive, the raw values are 0. Funny that the Current, Worst and Threshold are the same between drives, while the RAW values differ
It shows "CAUTION" in yellow.
Also in yellow:
C5 - Current Pending Sector Count. Current 200, Worst 200 Threshold 0
C6 - Uncorrectable Sector Count, same values
It's funny because for my other 2TB WD drive it shows the same values for C5 and C6 but they are not colored yellow and the drive...
Hi,
I have a WD WD RE 4 TB Enterprise Hard Drive
(http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0090UEQ8I/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1 )
that I used as a back up, connected through a Plugable brand USB3 enclosure...
BTW, even though I don't have anything on the drive, it does show 94MB as used. So that must be the internal processing. However I'm not looking at the "free space", but at the whole capacity. And 94MB is not 2GB. 2GB sounds like way too much to be short.

Thanks, is there any specification of the threshold, or way to see how many bad sectors are masked, or other details about how much they can use for internal processes (I haven't seen this in my SSDs or other flash, do you have a link where I can learn about it). I checked that I have no hidden...
Hi,
I just bought a USB 3.0 128GB Supersonic Magnum memory stick and Windows shows a capacity of 117 GB, more exactly 126,227,640,320 bytes.
I know that according to manufacturers, 1 GB is 10^9 bytes, and not 2^30 that is the standard in the software industry, so I'm not expecting to see...
