    Dell U4025QW + Intel 155U CPU Laptop

I have a new Chromebook on the way (ASUS CX54) which has an Intel 155U CPU. I also have my eye on a Dell U4025QW monitor, which is a 5k ultrawide running a max resolution of 5120 x 2160 @ 120 Hz. I'd like to try and figure out if this laptop can drive this display at full resolution and refresh...

Using section of 4K TV for gaming

Thanks kasakka. the Nvidia settings (no scaling option) did the trick - game appears in center of the screen, which is absolutely tolerable. Side quirk is that the Nvidia game optimizer thing assumes I will play in native 4K, and reduces detail levels too much, so I adjusted them back up...

Thanks, that would probably be good enough. Will give it a go.

Using section of 4K TV for gaming

I haven't done any gaming for a while but with the rona doing its thing I thought now might be a good time to break Steam out again. The problem is that I use a 4K TV screen for work (from home), but I sit quite close to it, about 2 ft - great for spreadsheets but vomit inducing when murdering...

Should I replace this SSD (SMART)

I'm horrible at interpreting SMART values on SSDs - what do you guys think, should I replace this disk? I'm thinking I should, but don't want to pull it prematurely (especially having read the Ars Technica SSD torture test on these things!). It's a Samsung EVO 850 250GB drive that's just over...

    212 EVO on AM4 - Wrong Orientation

I thought that may be the case, but it was worth a shot. Odd that the CoolerMaster's Hyper 212 range has so many variants with differing blocks / brackets and whatnot. My case does actually have 2 spaces at the top for 120mm fans, so I may give that a go, but I was hoping to avoid turning it...

    212 EVO on AM4 - Wrong Orientation

Sorry for the post spam, but I've just realised I actually have the "Hyper 212 LED" version, which has that finned block: http://www.coolermaster.com/cooling/cpu-air-cooler/hyper-212-led/ I do have the new version, which has the slits, as per this post...

    212 EVO on AM4 - Wrong Orientation

Thanks pgaster, but the top of my block doesn't look like those in the video, so I don't think it's compatible. The top of mine is finned, like in this video: (he's got the same problem, it's oriented vertically, but he doesn't mention it in the vid)

    212 EVO on AM4 - Wrong Orientation

I built a Ryzen 1700X-based PC about a month ago, and the only compatible cooler I could get locally was a CoolerMaster 212 EVO. The AM4 bracket it came with looked very much like an afterthought, was difficult to install, and forced me to install the cooler in the vertical orientation (see...

Fake Samsung 850 EVO 1 TB SSD

Thanks for the responses - I borrowed a Windows machine and installed Magician. Sure enough, it comes back as genuine. Weird! It says firmware is up to date, and the benchmarks are close to what I would expect. Magician screenshots attached. So is this thing pucker? It's really a genuine...

Fake Samsung 850 EVO 1 TB SSD

A few weeks back I bought a Samsung 850 EVO 1 TB SSD on eBay for about $250. Suspiciously it didn't include the original box, but seemed otherwise ok, and the seller had 100% positive reviews with over 1,000 reviews, so that seemed fairly safe. When I finally got around to checking out the...

Motherboard that supports triple 4K Monitors without additional graphics card

Thanks all. Yes, looks like such a motherboard isn't out there yet. The GTX 960 looks like a workable solution, was just hoping to get away without the the noise, power and Linux driver issues. I looked at the Matrox solutions, but pricing seems crazy compared to the gaming cards, and the...

Motherboard that supports triple 4K Monitors without additional graphics card

Thanks for the feedback! I have seen motherboards with dual Thunderbolt (with integrated DP 1.2), which gets me 2/3 of the way there. If there was a mother board with 2x Thunderbolt Ports, and 1x HDMI 2.0 port, that should be able to do it (providing the Intel graphics can actually drive all...
