    Options for 1.8 zif ssd?

I had a old zif 30 gig Toshiba left over from a zune upgrade that seemed to work twice as fast until it gave up the ghost. I guess I was just hoping I could get this thing to stop stuttering every few seconds or so.

    Options for 1.8 zif ssd?

I'm using motion computing le1600 with a newer zif cable. Currently I have an adapter with a x400 compact flash drive. It works ok, especially when used with file based write filter (fbwf), but it could be better. Are there any 1.8 zif ssds out there that are worth the effort? Is there a...

4870x2 and catalyst 10.10 not playing well

You weren't kidding, 10.10c hotfix made all the difference in the world. Everything is running silky smooth and my games can be played for more than 10 min without crashes. I just wish ati/amd would give easier access to these hotfixes. A little note at the bottom of the driver page or somthing.

4870x2 and catalyst 10.10 not playing well

I recently upgraded to win7 x64 and installed the newest app drivers for my 4870x2. In this case catalyst 10.10. Had anyone else had constant crashing problems? Its fine in desktop or just running normal office programs. It just seems to be unstable in games. Blue screen lasts only for...

FBWF (file based write filter) for windows 7 x86

Im making a note here big success! I installed FBWF from the newest version of windows embedded. It works great, but had to do a few tweaks that I found on another forum. Am I allowed to link to other forums without receiving wrath?

FBWF (file based write filter) for windows 7 x86

I have no previous experience using write filters or CF cards as hardrives. Demon10000 what did you use as a write filter? Any info or advice? I dont particularly care if the filter limits writing during or after; my ultimate goal is to improve CF card life. What you used, can it be...

FBWF (file based write filter) for windows 7 x86

Hi everybody, does anyone have any experience using FBWF (file based write filter) on a existing install of Windows 7? I have recently installed Win7 x86 on a motion tablet with a failed hardrive. Instead of plopping in a regular hardrive I went with the poor mans ssd. A adapter and 32Gb...

    ssd or 10000 raid0?

I believe Im sold, the 600Gb velociraptor is what I think to be the best solution for the time being. That is until consumer SLC ssd drives drop in price. I know that a caviar or a F3 would reach somewhat close to this performance, I would rather have the speed than size. I have another...

    ssd or 10000 raid0?

Apples to oranges comparisons indeed, so many different types of storage and so many different uses for each. I guess my budget sits around $200 to $300, I would like at least a min 100Gb boot + 300Gb storage/games or preferred setup of 300+Gb performance boot/apps/games (I have a 500Gb drive...

    ssd or 10000 raid0?

Ive thought hard about a ssd, and I would love to have one but its about 400 bucks for a 160Gb drive. My steam folder alone usually hovers around 100Gb, a x64 OS is apparently going to take 30Gb. Not much overhead for impulse and its games, sc2, etc. I would end up pushing the games to a...

    ssd or 10000 raid0?

I see what you are saying now. I would most definitely have a backup solution; most likely just use whats in place already. Trust me, I have already felt the sting of the failed IBM deathstar array. I was thinking perhaps 2 black caviars raid0 short stroked with a 300 gig boot section, the...

    ssd or 10000 raid0?

I used to have a raid0 back in the day when pata drives were the only game in town. Since I have been sporting the scsi drive I have sorta lost touch with performance storage. What would be your suggestion then E4g1e? Im open minded to anything as long as I can get some performance out of a x64...

    ssd or 10000 raid0?

Thanks again for the help E4g1e. You know I had a friend mention the exact same thing. Do you think I can get close to the performance I got out of my scsi drive with a caviar black raid in windows 7 x64? Do you think perhaps I should use a raid 0 and short stroke it?

    ssd or 10000 raid0?

Yes, I know, yet another ssd vs the world thread...sorry. I recently posted that my old 15k scsi drive was running so very slow on a new install of windows 7 x64. E4g1e was kind enough to give me the low down on the drive being full, windows 7 x64 not playing nice with scsi, etc. Now I...
