There are two 140mm fan positions in the base but not on the PSU shroud itself. Personally though, I think the ideal approach here wouldn't be to add fans closer to the GPU so much as getting the existing airflow to go there on its own (rather than taking the path of least resistance directly...
I actually had a Grandia GD06 myself back before I joined on at Fractal Design. It was a bit too deep to fit with the other home theater components, but it was well made and I remember being fairly impressed with it overall.
Our Node 605 was an outstanding case when it came to blending in well...
Replacing a faulty front I/O shouldn't be much trouble.
SineDave have you tried contacting our support team yet at support.fractal-design.com to see about getting a replacement? Every case comes with a 2 year warranty but even if that's passed I'm sure we can still get you whichever part...
Our Define XL can apparently take a shotgun blast if that qualifies as overbuilt. The newer Define R6 a bit less hefty but I'd say it's definitely worth checking out if you're looking for something solid and versatile. I may be a little biased, of course.
I don't see anything unusual about those screws, so as far as I can tell they really shouldn't be giving you so much grief with the top filter alignment. In my experience, the best way to get the top filter lined up just right is to lay it in and then push along the edge from the center out...
Interesting. By no means an uncommon cooler so it seems like there surely would have been another complaint by now if all of them had this same issue with the R6. I'll check with the support team and see what they've heard. Maybe they can suggest some sort of fix as well.
It should be no trouble at all to send you a replacement set. Odd that your kit only included 8 of the 12 that should've been there. Our support team's generally pretty quick to action but feel free to shoot me a pm if there's any way I can assist.
I may be a little biased, but the Define R5 does seem like the perfect match here. I'd definitely check it out, especially while the solid side panel Blackout edition is $20 off with free shipping @ Newegg.
That is absolutely bizarre. I've never heard a sound like that come from one of our fans. I talked to support a while ago and they're equally mystified. It would defy all probability for all 3 fans to be defective in a way to cause such a peculiar noise, but I'm not sure what else it could be...
I'll be glad to help however I can, assuming our support guys haven't already sorted everything out for you. Defects are rare enough on their own, so to have three fans all exhibiting the same issue right out of the box makes me think there's something more to it. Do you have the fans plugged...
HighSpeed PC gifted me one of these units at a PAX event several years back and it's been pretty solid with a good bit of functionality for an $80 bench: https://www.amazon.com/HighSpeed-PC-Half-Deck-Tech-Station/dp/B015JLMVKG/
Given a choice between Nylon and PVC I'd recommend Nylon filters any day. Both catch dust fairly well, but Nylon filters do so without about half the restriction to airflow. Most Fractal Design cases use Nylon, but since we don't sell our filters separately I don't feel too conflicted in...
External window dimensions are 280 x 332 mm on the Define C and 280 x 292 mm on the Define Mini C. There's definitely space for an LED strip, and as it just so happens one of our crew had a Define C with an NZXT HUE+ installed at a recent gathering: http://imgur.com/a/hM87P
Sorry to hear...
