I got the QX6850 from the Intel Retail Edge program for $260 (with shipping)- I don't think that there is a comperable price on the market right now for a quadcore Intel CPU. I am willing to take the tradeoff of 65nm for this price/performance ratio- I woould never actually pay a thousand...
