Intel NIC settings...a tweak too far?

Just remember if you go for Jumbo Frames, the entire path between the two points has to allow it. If you run 4000Byte frames between the Server and Switch, but the client PC is connected to a switch that only does 1500Byte you are going to get Fragementation which can cause plenty of issues...

Why 10:1 variabibility in WiFi speed?

Get inssider (Version 3 is free, version 4 is not). This will allow you to look at the wireless channels in the area. Check to see how nosiy it is and if anyone is on your channel. This will also allow you to confirm you are infact on the 5ghz band and not on 2.4ghz.

    Passed CCNA!

I'm lucky atm where I work on manager Cisco routers on a daily basis for a large business IT company. Plenty of exposure to subnetting. Yet still cannot crack it. Will take your advice corrupted, I know I need to understand it then a lot more things will click, just so boring to memorise it all

    Geforce 770 & 780 coming in May

Ordered my 770 just now from Novatech. Picking it up tomorrow after work! Looking forward to it, from a 560ti it should be noticable! Was disappointed in novatech, they had them listed at 1500GMT at just under £400. Time I got home 3 hours later, they was £40 cheaper. Probably noticed they...

    Geforce 770 & 780 coming in May

Been researching an upgrade for the past few weeks, thinking if it is worth going from a 560 to a 670. Now I got another option, 560 to 770 :D Once the benchmarks come out ofc. I am curios on how close the Titan LE will be to it's bigger brother.

    Cisco equipment legal to sell?

Should be fine, just make sure that they actually own the cisco equipment and not leased it. It is fairly common in buisness (especially if they don't have their own dedicated IT department) to have a 3rd party manage their network. I work for one of these companys and we hear all the time of...

Need some advice on new Case

Thanks for the feedback so far. With noise it is down to if the case has an issue with vibrations or shaking. Fan noise can be fixed with fan controller or just good fans. Looking at the 800D it seems a bit over kill for my needs. 400/500R are small and cannot see great water cooling support...

PC crash with Youtube Full screen

HI all, I have had a very irritating crash problem for a few weeks now and I cannot figure it out. First, setup: Asrock Extreme 4 Motherboard (z68) 2500k @4.5ghz MSI 560 ti (not the 448 edition) 2gig. 2x2 gig and 2x4gig RAM (geil, same model numbers just different sizes) Games...

    Should I buy Diablo 3?

Gotta ask, what game would you consider HAD a good story? I felt SC2's story was pretty decent, especially for an RTS (which rarly have decent plots). Good length too. It is possible that in a few months time a "Starter Edition" of Diablo 3 will emerge. It has been done with SC2 and WoW. It...

    Vertical Sync - Use it?

I will typical use Vsync on games which are pushing 120fps on my 60hz monitor. The idea is to lower the load on the computer. No point having the computer going 100% flat out to render 120fps if 60 is MORE than enough.

    Apple and NASA patents

I have done a lot of research into this topic as of recent. With Apple patenting pretty much everything they can, I am constantly asking myself the question, how extreme are these apple patents. I recall years ago about the Saturn V program having a few hundred patents attached to them, yet the...

    DVI vs HDMI

I actually discovered this the other day when plugging my PC into my TV. If you use a DVI to HDMI adapter on the reciving end (monitor), you can infact have sound over dvi. This came a shock to me since I thought DVI was purly video. I belive it is a feature of modern graphics cards (I have a...

    F12 alternative

Hey, Odd request. My F12 key doesn't work. Old G15 keyboard that has developed problems, one being the f11 and f12 key doesn't work. At all. Wasn't a problem until i ran into a program that required f12 be pressed, and I cannot remap it in the program itself. So the question is, is there a...
