Just remember if you go for Jumbo Frames, the entire path between the two points has to allow it. If you run 4000Byte frames between the Server and Switch, but the client PC is connected to a switch that only does 1500Byte you are going to get Fragementation which can cause plenty of issues...
Get inssider (Version 3 is free, version 4 is not). This will allow you to look at the wireless channels in the area. Check to see how nosiy it is and if anyone is on your channel. This will also allow you to confirm you are infact on the 5ghz band and not on 2.4ghz.
I'm lucky atm where I work on manager Cisco routers on a daily basis for a large business IT company. Plenty of exposure to subnetting.
Yet still cannot crack it. Will take your advice corrupted, I know I need to understand it then a lot more things will click, just so boring to memorise it all
Ordered my 770 just now from Novatech. Picking it up tomorrow after work! Looking forward to it, from a 560ti it should be noticable!
Was disappointed in novatech, they had them listed at 1500GMT at just under £400. Time I got home 3 hours later, they was £40 cheaper. Probably noticed they...
Been researching an upgrade for the past few weeks, thinking if it is worth going from a 560 to a 670. Now I got another option, 560 to 770 :D
Once the benchmarks come out ofc. I am curios on how close the Titan LE will be to it's bigger brother.
Should be fine, just make sure that they actually own the cisco equipment and not leased it. It is fairly common in buisness (especially if they don't have their own dedicated IT department) to have a 3rd party manage their network. I work for one of these companys and we hear all the time of...
Thanks for the feedback so far. With noise it is down to if the case has an issue with vibrations or shaking. Fan noise can be fixed with fan controller or just good fans.
Looking at the 800D it seems a bit over kill for my needs. 400/500R are small and cannot see great water cooling support...
Hey all,
Been researching this to death for the past week and getting no where definitive. Was really hoping to order a case ready for the weekend for a project.
Anyway. Old case is a Thermaltake VA9003BWS Kandalf Full Tower

HI all,
I have had a very irritating crash problem for a few weeks now and I cannot figure it out.
First, setup:
Asrock Extreme 4 Motherboard (z68)
2500k @4.5ghz
MSI 560 ti (not the 448 edition) 2gig.
2x2 gig and 2x4gig RAM (geil, same model numbers just different sizes)
Games...
Gotta ask, what game would you consider HAD a good story? I felt SC2's story was pretty decent, especially for an RTS (which rarly have decent plots). Good length too.
It is possible that in a few months time a "Starter Edition" of Diablo 3 will emerge. It has been done with SC2 and WoW. It...
I will typical use Vsync on games which are pushing 120fps on my 60hz monitor. The idea is to lower the load on the computer. No point having the computer going 100% flat out to render 120fps if 60 is MORE than enough.
I have done a lot of research into this topic as of recent. With Apple patenting pretty much everything they can, I am constantly asking myself the question, how extreme are these apple patents. I recall years ago about the Saturn V program having a few hundred patents attached to them, yet the...
I actually discovered this the other day when plugging my PC into my TV. If you use a DVI to HDMI adapter on the reciving end (monitor), you can infact have sound over dvi. This came a shock to me since I thought DVI was purly video. I belive it is a feature of modern graphics cards (I have a...
Hey,
Odd request. My F12 key doesn't work. Old G15 keyboard that has developed problems, one being the f11 and f12 key doesn't work. At all.
Wasn't a problem until i ran into a program that required f12 be pressed, and I cannot remap it in the program itself. So the question is, is there a...
Hey all,
I have been striving to get my PC in a state where, when I want to, have it completly silent. MSI Afterburner has great controls for changing the fan speed at certain tempretures, but it will not let me go below 40% (1680rpm) with a custom fan profile.
Anybody know of a way to...
Hey all,
Currently looking for a version of windows 7 OEM for a computer i'm building for a friend. Most places sell a version for about £100 to £120 for OEM pro 64bit. THiS site:
http://www.sofway.co.uk/categories/windows-7
Sells Pro for £75 minus VAT. WITH vat is £90 which still makes...
I am no overclocking it. I have tried running the card with the fan on full with similar results (it is quite a loud fan).
What would you say is the safe MAX tempreture to have it at?
I have the max temp specification from here:

Hey all,
Been having a wierd problem with the computer for a while now. As the title says, I have a Palit 460GTX (768mb) and have had it since last August, and this issue JUST started happening after 1 year. The store only does 1 year but Palit themselves do 2.
Sometimes when I CLOSE down...
Sent a message to Thermaltake asking for advice and quoting the model number. Reply back today saying they would send out the standoffs via post free of charge.
Nice of them.
Hey all,
So I am going to rebuild the computer with a motherboard replacement and I need to buy more standoffs. Previous ones have become damaged or lost so I need a new pack. Looking around I found 1 type at Maplins but not the correct size. I was hoping people could tell me where to get one...
Thanks for the advice but if I ever "waited for the next tech" to upgrade, i'd never be able to upgrade. Plus Sandy Bridge will likly cost as much as an I7 setup, if not more.
I will try a bios re-flash.
I was afraid of that. Would have thought address limiting on motherboards would be eliminated with current generation of motherboards but I am looking around for a replacement. I may just upgrade to a LGA1156 setup in the near future instead though.
Thanks for the help.
Hey all,
Confusing problem. My previous motherboard failed so i downgraded to a Gigabye 945p-S3 (3.3rev).

Hey all,
A friend of mine recently had her USB drive come up with an error. Whenever it is accessed it throws up an error "this drive needs to be formated". So we tried running chkdsk and even tried running Restoration (http://www.snapfiles.com/get/restoration.html) which i've tried on my...
Hey all,
Recently my G15 keyboard stopped accepting inputs (no keys work, but lights up). I've decided it is dead and intend to get a new keyboard, but this time i'm just going to get a cheapy one.
What I will miss is the programmable macro keys. I use these a lot to enter information like...
Hey all,
Currently going through the process of making my pc as quite as possible without sacrifcing cooling (everything is stock cooling atm) and while I have a order planned out, I have become stuck with the side fan which is a 250mm. I am using UK based sites (because I live there :P ) and...
I have daemon tools installed yes, the pro version. I have disabled all the virtual drives to no effect, but I will try uninstalling it and see if that fixes the problem.
As for the DVDs themselves, I have tried 2 different makes, Phillips and Maxell. I have used them plenty of times before...
Hey all,
Recently, all my rewritable DVDs (i know their rewritable because i use the same discs plenty of times before) are now apparently "write protected". I try to format both with nero and windows (Vista ultimate) and end up with that error.
I can format it on another computer no...
Hey all,
Looking to getting a new 22 inch monitor, and I am drawn between these two. Currently using a AG Neovo F-417 (17") montor (fantastic screen) but getting on a bit now.
Just want to hear from some people, which would be the better one to go for? I know the HP has a slightly higher...
I have a x1950 pro (ATI) graphics card and managed to play it on max settings @ 1280x1024 without any problems. As far as I know, the game itself isn't that demanding graphically, although i only did a 3 day trial and any problems i had i think was due to internet lag.
Hey all,
I often like to recorded ingame footage using fraps but I have found that it is limited by the filesize. If it reaches a certain point (4.5 gig or something) then it stops recording. Any ideas if there is a way to bypass this or for it to start recording again streight after it...
I have tried un plugging the speakers and microphone and plugging just the microphone in, recording and it still recordes the music that is playing.
My audio manager can detect that a port has been plugged. I do not have the option to choose what is plugged in.
Hey all,
I am using onboard sound on a gigabyte 945p S3 (rev 3.3). I think it is called Realtek High Definition Audio.
The problem is that when i use my microphone to record (been testing with windows sound recorder) It also recordes what ever sound is playing on the PC, even with my...
