    Gigabit VPN options?

Open source is probably the affordable route to take to get gigabit throughput. Now with that being said look at this from a couple of different angles. 1. how many concurrent connections are you going to have? 2. where will your connection be coming from? 3. If its just you connecting to...

    Entry Level Server

I built a couple of servers with that motherboard and CPU and this is what i learned. Pros: Server 2008 RS seems to be the most responsive on that CPU compared to anything you can build for $3000 or less. The motherboard does have a lot of features given its price. Cons: There is no Fan...

Will windows 7 64-bit automatic driver install work with my old ga-965p-ds3?

most companies roll vista and 7 drivers together into the same driver since vista and 7 are basically the same from a driver stand point. Also since 64bit by default only uses signed drivers by default its cheaper for the company's to roll the 2 drivers into 1

I hate my Intel DX58S0 motherboard

i don't know what problems you're having with that board but I've built dozens of systems with that board and i haven't had any of your problems. My suggestion is to check your hardware because with system slow downs like that I'd start looking at your memory or hard drive(s).

    CompTIA Certification

I believe all Comptia Certs are valid for 3 years, and as for study materials i recommend the Comptia books and the CBT Nuggets videos. The CBT Nuggets videos have worked well for net+ and Microsoft tests.

    Server 2008R2 or WHSv2?

If the cheap computer doesn't have the hardware needed for virtualization and you don't want to learn server 2008 then i'd say go with the WHSv2 because its more user friendly then server 2008. but if your planning on learning server 2008 i'd say go for server 2008

    DIY NAS advice

I've used it at work a few times, we usually use LSI, Adaptec, and Areca, but when its a rush and we're out of stock of those 3 brands we use that 3ware card and performance is basically the same but seems more expensive for no apparent reason. but it could just be a volume buying thing from our...
