LED backlit monitors aren't nearly as good as CCFL for color quality and uniformity. So I assume you're willing to trade that for lower power usage and possibly a more thin monitor, right?
I think it's worth it to calibrate even a $150 TN screen, especially if you can rent a colorimeter from somewhere like borrowlenses.com.
Also, I almost never really see the colormunki mentioned on here. I know it's expensive... but does anyone use one? I'm thinking about getting one to use for...
Exactly. People always forget that the biggest benefit of > 60hz is a reduction in tearing without vysnc. Running my EA231WMi at 75hz significantly reduces tearing (but it's still there), so I can only imagine how nice 120hz would look.
Hmm, well the only reason I could think of for wanting one is if you do not use it with a PC. Almost every single video card has an option in the drivers for GPU scaling. There are a few reasons for not wanting one, mostly because of input lag.
I'm definitely not saying the U2711 isn't good-- in my opinion it's the best 27" out there for the price. But all I said in my original post is that I thought it would be nice for Dell to make some changes to their future models.
Even if some people don't think that lower input lag/changing...
Not sure why you are being so rude about it :( .. I'm not "crying" about it, I just feel that a less aggressive ag coating and less input lag would make the monitor even better than it already is. You're absolutely right about 30ms being quick--245ms was as fast as I got on that test. But that...
Promote/comment on this if you don't like the ag coating. http://www.ideastorm.com/ideaView?id=087700000000kI0AAI
Hopefully Dell eventually makes some of these changes because the input lag and coating are the only things that make this monitor less than perfect for me.
Promote/comment on this! Even if you disagree with me on some parts (which I would understand, I didn't spend much time gathering facts, proofreading), it would help getting the stuff you agree with implemented (especially a less aggressive ag coating)...
I probably wouldn't buy a glossy screen because of the reflections, but the lack of an AG coating makes them look so clean and sharp. If only there was a compromise between the two... a semi-glossy screen!! :D But seriously, a really slight AG coating just enough to blur reflections that lets...
lol he's not being an asshat! :p To answer mastercheif's question, I haven't been able to tell the difference after six months (like doing a really quick toggle back and forth between the old and new profile) on most monitors. I would still definitely rent that spyder3 to calibrate it once, and...
Not to complain about this monitor any more ;) , but is a 500K green-pink shift about normal? My colorimeter is reporting 6657K <- 6477K -> 6171K (yes, the right side turns pink really fast).
Just wanna make sure I don't have a bad sample :(
It should be allowing you to select the file, if not make sure you're doing step 4/what Antimatter said.
Edit: Also, if for some reason you would prefer to run 75hz (a much more common frequency), here's the 75hz displayport driver.
I have a CM690 and I guess I'm not installing the hard drives correctly. I've built at least 20 comps for people over the years (all with different cases, etc.), but I can't figure this out. It seems like there isn't enough room for the SATA power connectors to stick out from the HDD without...
