dondan if you mean mount it upside down, that's what I've done.
Even if it were possible to mount it the right side up, the HDD is too flush with the case for the power cable to fit
Is there a consensus that fins parallel to RAM is the way to go, as opposed to heat pipes parallel to RAM?
My L9i is mounted with parallel fins, heat pipes running perpendicular, pointing out towards the I/O.
I've seen some posts showing heat pipes pointing up (parallel to RAM) has better...
Following up on this, as I mentioned before, my SF450 fan spun quite loudly after 5 min GPU load. The fan also spun on idle (though slowly) most of the time. Swapped for an SF600 and the fan never spun on idle and took a while to turn on during full GPU load, even then it's very quiet. I've now...
My SF450 sounded like a vacuum after 5 mins on full GPU load (mind you it's a 1060). Swapped it for an SF600 and the difference is night and day. Maybe I had a terrible 450 and a great 600, either way, try another PSU if yours is loud. Mine's no longer the loudest component.
In the thread, thermalright rep mentions tootling needed for full copper (and freight) makes the price basically double. Material cost by itself is a very small part. So think about it, is there a market for this cooler where it costs twice Dan's estimate?
I think we're crossing over too far...
Higher voltage + higher frequency = too much heart for little coolers. You can scale back the K processor to behave like non-K. You're all saying the same thing. Let's stop going around in circles.
As for the PC not booting Wezelkrozum dondan mine wouldn't boot with my graphics card because...
Anyone looking to go with custom cables, unless it's 100% for aesthetics reasons, I'd wait and see how you fare. I was fairly certain the cables would be so long to be airflow restrictive. And the first time I put everything together (following Dan's instructions) that was the case. But after...
