In Europe they are fairly restricted geographically, with biggest presence in the Benelux area. Ahold used to be much bigger, but nearly bankrupted itself by growing too fast in the early 2000s, then sold of most of what it had acquired.

In related news, Ahold Delhaize (Food Lion, Hannaford, Stop & Shop, Giant Food in the US) have shut down large parts of their IT infrastructure due to a "security incident": Source...

Yeah and they're completely busted piles of shit as it stands. Like the dude vibe coded so hard he didn't even realize that parts of the UI still said Photoshop. He obviously just threw pictures of the UI at an LLM, said "reimplement this," and...

We have seen what happens when big-tech ships linux: it's called android. If linux were shipped by default on desktop, it would eventually be plastered with manure at least as badly as windows is, which would defeat the purpose of the entire...

Depends of what one would classify as an "issue", doesn't it? At the moment, it will do fine for the light use case it is claimed to be aimed at. However, it also restricts you to such usage and potentially reduces its useful lifespan where a...

Not everyone is in the luxurious position of being able to choose their OS, and no one can choose the OS of every single person and organisation that they come into contact with.

About the supposed user friendlyness of apple's software: last week, during an online lecture, I had the privilege of seeing one of the most intelligent people I know being reduced to gibbering idiot by his new macbook. This is someone who has...

Real in the sense that it would be trivial to implement, hypothetical in that they haven't been caught doing it yet.

Except when he claims with a straight face that apple laptops are properly cooled for the hardware.

Not going to happen at that price. Maybe if a zero were added.

We’ve been using Chromebooks in our school for a while, and I agree that they’re much easier to manage than iPads once everything is set up properly. The Google Admin console gives you a lot of control, especially around restricting extensions...
