Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I couldn't even install ESXi 5.5. I think I'll have to pick up a NIC that is supported first. Found a TP-Link in a local store that is supposed to work so I'll get one of those after work.
I was thinking 4GB to FreeNAS, 1 to each web server, 1 to pfSense and the rest for the hypervisor. It's pushing it but I think it will be fine.
Do you think I could run ESXi if I just get a supported NIC? Any recommendations on a supported card?
My FreeNAS machine just died so I'm trying to come up with the cheapest possible way to replace it. It would be awesome to get an all in one solution for running a few VMs. I would need a firewall (pfSense), FreeNAS (or something that can import my old raidz) and 2 web servers (low load)
I've...
I ment switching as you describe in your second paragraph.
If you read my post again you can see that I talk about two VMs. One would run Linux and the other Windows. I wouldn't want to use the host as my workstation though.
What I would like to achive is a scenario where I can run my linux...
If you are using XenServer you might want to change your signature, it says Xen 6.0 which doesn't exist. Xen is not the same thing as XenServer.
If you switch to XCP it supports DMC
I really can't see the point of using XenServer instead of XCP if you look at this feature comparison...
I'm thinking of building a setup like this. Would love to have my workstation running linux but at the same time I would like to be able to easily switch to my Windows VM for the occasional gaming session.
How easy is it to switch between the two VMs?
GPU would be one 5870 with 3 screens. So...
I think a dedicated 10Gbit link should be enough for me for the replication. I'll have to do some testing on that but worst case I can just add more cards.
How is your replication going to work? Will it be only internal in the JBOD? I have no experience in dual port SAS or that type of...
Thanks for posting this!
I'm planning something similar for work so it's very interesting to get more opinions and ideas.
While quickly browsing through the manual for the JBOD, it doesn't seem very redundant to me though. Isn't CSE-PTJBOD-CB2 a SPOF or am I missing something?
I'm...
I'm on a Q6600 with a 1GB 5870. I would love to use my eyefinity setup of 3240x1920 (3x 23") for BF3 but right now it's almost unplayable as you can imagine.
Main interest isn't gaming so I'm not spending that much on it, nothing crazy like a dual 7970 or something. I don't need high settings...
I think Crashplan is easy, with some minor guidance I think most end users would be able to install it without any trouble.
Edit: Al thought this seems to be easy to solve from the staff side, teach them what and when things get backed up so they won't have to assume anything. If they need...
I don't think preconfigured is an option, mounting 24 drives isn't that much work and this case would only hold drives. Stressing the drives I would do on my own.
Sound isn't a problem either, this will be hosted in a server room which is already very loud ;)
The fail light isn't the most important feature, it would be nice though. Why I look at SM and Chenbro is mainly for the quality. Would be interesting to hear your reasons if you would like to share though?
Does anyone know if the HP cards work with the expander in the Supermicro 846E16 case?
I've been looking at Supermicro SC846E16-R1200B and Chenbro RM41824.
The Norco 4224 isn't an option in this case since from what I've heard it doesn't even have a failed drive LED? Is there anything else the case is missing compared to the ones i've posted?
This would be used as a DAS to a...
