Excellent!
Parts arrived and installed and was hoping to get away without reinstalling Windows just yet. Nervously switched the machine on BAM - success, a few driver upgrades later and the machine is running perfectly. Speed is awesome and gaming has got noticeably smoother.
Sorry for the delayed reply. I've taken the plunge and gone for the following:
Intel Core i7 920
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58
Corsair XMS3 6GB (3x2GB)
I figured the newer socket was the best way to future proof myself.
Hope I notice a difference...
Hi all. I'm looking to do an upgrade from my stock e6400 to something a little more recent to help improve my gaming. Currently system is as follows:
Stock e6400
P5WDH Deluxe MB
4GB DDR2
GTX260 Video
Oodles of hard drives
All wrapped up in a Silverstone HTPC case

Does anyone know of a wireless PC keyboard that uses the island style keys such as those seen on Macs and Sony Vaio laptops. I realise I could use a Mac keyboard but I was hoping to see if there were any alternatives. TIA
For some reason my mind went off on a strange tangent today and I am now pulling my hair out trying to jog my memory. I'm trying to remember the name of a game that was hyped beyond all belief when it was first announced. All I can remember is that it had some, at the time, pretty impressive CG...
Looking at going with the XFX GTX260 Black Edition from this site:

£205.85 Inc VAT doesn't seem too bad a price.
I've probably gone back and forth between the two companies numerous times now so can't say I favour either. My only complaint of the recent nVidia cards is to do with the way they handle multiple displays.
I run my PC to a dell monitor on my desk and also cloned to a Samsung TV a couple of...
Always the way isn't it!
Think I'll stick with the current CPU for now then and take a look at the graphics card. It's between the GTX260 and the HD4870 1GB then - Ati might just win me back over looking at prices which aren't all that great at the minute.
The monitors I use either have a res of 1680 x 1050 or 1360 x 768. My PSU is a 1 to 2 year old Corsair HX620.
That's more what I was hoping to hear. Thanks.
Does this mean that you think it wouldn't be a worthwhile upgrade unless I was playing these games? I've noticed that a lot of games, although quite playable, aren't butter smooth.
