The USBs totally suck on this board! I went to my component store to pick up a powered ATAPI to SATA bridge but managed to find a molex powered USB to ATAPI connector and lo and behold the low powered slimline blu ray writer drive works perfectly. I now only use a single internal USB port...
I am p!sssssed off right now!
Im using the Sugo SG05 board and had a slimline optical drive (using a USB bridge to the internal ports) and a few flash drives intermitently failing to work both within and outside windows. This applies both to the internal and external USBs. I've checked these...
Ive got a slim blu ray drive hooked up via internal USB and it runs sweet. A sata port would be wasted on it. I have a 1TB HDD to rip my blu ray movies on to and when I can afford it I'll be installing a 2.5" SSD as my main speedy drive with the Tb for storage only. When I figure out how to...
A question for those using the Sugo SG05/06 case, which is the coolest and quietest heatsink I should be using? I underestimated how hole ridden and noisy that case is with the stock intel cooler.
Also... That big space under the front of the case... Has anyone managed to put it to good use? I...
My system will be a Core 2 Quad with 4GB ram and I have 2 graphics options:
Option 1:
Budget motherbooard with a 9300 IGP (16 stream processors) PLUS ASUS 8800GT 256MB card in SLI.
Option 2:
Budget motherboard, GMA 950 with Geforce 8800 GT 512MB (no SLI).
Which would give me better...
How have everyone put their internal USBs to use?
I got a slim blu ray writer on ebay for $80 :-D and turns out it has an IDE connector so I will be using the USB to ATAPI bridge to power this up but it will take up a whole 9pin header (data + power) allowing the internal satas to go RAID0 :-D...
Im late to the party but Ive just ordered all the parts to build a SSF LAN system this week. The only compromise is that Im using a new Celeron D 351 I happen to have had lying around and I'll be upgrading that to an E8400 when they're back in stock at my local.
That really will be awesome. My worry was the potential difficulty in identifying the revised board and waiting for them to filter down the channel. At least with a new name picking them out will be easy. Geforce 9400 would be bring it up to speed with the ion board so isnt to much to ask for...
The X58m board and the LIAN LI PC-V350B case looks like a nice combination.
I notice that the P57 chipset are out next month and the it supports Lynfield processors (future core i5 and i7) whereas the X58 doesnt. Would it be worth waiting for this?
I have my eye on the Lanbox Lite VF6000BNS with an ASUS Rampage II GENE LGA 1366 Intel X58 although the MSI X58M LGA 1366 Intel X58 Micro ATX Intel Motherboard is a good budget board. Ideally the case wouldnt look too out of place as a HTPC.
Hey guys,
Im looking to build a core i7 gaming rig. Im eyeing a couple of boards at the moment but I need ideas for small cases and heres what Im looking for:
Ideally MicroATX SFF
SLI capable multiple expansion ports
Decent 300W+ power supply
Thanks!
I only recently came across the 9300 itx by chance. My original focus was on a basic blu ray HTPC (TV tuner and high capacity HDD) with a preference for Nvidia's Pure HD performance. I could build an atom/ion compact system for around $500 and it would perform well enough but the draw of the...
Is anyone having any doubts about investing so much money on a new LGA775 system when the socket is almost dead? Will Intel continue to release new 775 processors along side the corei3/5/7 chips?
Even if the new boards are ready in October, it will take several weeks for the old stock to clear the channel and the new board to hit he shelves.
As everyone has said, these boards arnt exactly cheap and for the cost, I'd like something fairly future proof but there is a lot of new tech on...
