Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
another option you may want to consider in the future is ddrescue
http://www.gnu.org/software/ddrescue/ddrescue.html
if you have a live cd that contains it all that is required is a command like the one below
dd_rescue /dev/sda /dev/sdb
to clone one disk to another
I find that as my media collection grows my need for a "30 Newest Files" share grows. Does anyone know if such a thing exists, and if not what steps i could take to possibly create such a thing and have it automated :P
Hello Hard Forum
I am wanting to set up my house with the ability to have my numerous sound systems all be able to play music simultaneously from my computer, and then have what my computer is playing be controlled by several lcd terminal's that would be placed throughout the house (probably...
that is true, i guess it would make more sense to test it non overclocked first and then if the need presents itself overclock to a max of 4ghz stock or 4.4ghz with the V8
i'm feeling pretty confident about this build, still won't be picking up for a few more hours but i will defiantly...
Uptime isn't a huge issue, my server was down for a week when i went from ext3 to ext4.
I really don't know much about overclocking but from what i have read the i3 is a superstar in this arena, and with the V8 it should be pretty stable...
I have been researching this for far to long, i have decided to get a clarksdale i3 and overclock it to 4ghz, that should give me ample power to do what i need. As for software WHS on a 120 day trial and then i'll buy WHS2 when it comes out.
I intend to pick this up after work (in approximatly...
After much searching i was able to find a really cool guy selling a Lian Li 343B online, so i picked it up. Along with two SATABAY5BK drive cages to keep everything nice and cool :)
Also i am now considering the AMD Phenom™ II X4 965 Black Edition as compared to the X6 as from what i...
Yea, it is a tough one to find, a possible alternative might be the DD Double Wide Tower - 21 Black Series Edition, but TBH i think it looks kinda lame.

That is good to hear, i've been getting a bunch of 1080p stuff and i have been looking forward to viewing it on my ps3 for quite some time now :)
I just wish that there was a place that sold that case locally, the more i look at it the more i want it :p
I have spent pretty much all of today researching what WHS is all about and i gotta say that i am pretty impressed. It sounds like exactly what i have been searching for. I have also put a bunch of time into figuring out what a SAS extender does and how it works, don't really understand it, but...
lol, yea quietness and keeping a nice cooling system with that many HDD's didn't seem that easy. However they will never have to work extremely hard so 40MB/s should suffice. However i will check out your ICH10R suggestion as it may be useful.
I used ubuntu as my server for quite some time...
Hello Hard Forum
Almost two years ago I came here and made this post. Since then the computer you guys helped me build has been running non stop receiving upgrade after upgrade :). However as i install my 6th 1.5tb HDD into my atom D945GCLF2 i realize that it is time for a new computer, so once...
I only had one day to play with it before leaving back to Calgary, but so far i can confirm that Ubuntu installs and functions perfectly on it, it can play a 720p video, multitasking doesn't seem to slow it down, and it shares over SMB like a monster.
The only issue that i saw was with...
i did some more research on this topic and the best fan for the job is a 40mm Mini-Kaze (link below)

atm i am away from my atom computer on a business trip, but when i get back i will edit this reply with the results of adding this fan
I picked up a D945GCLF2 yesterday and while it has worked perfectly it runs quite loud thanks to a fan located on top of the GPU (i believe the bios called it a MDF fan, or something along those lines). So i was hoping you guys could suggest a quieter fan that would work in the place of the...
