    You won't need DX10 to play Crysis, it's just that DX9 mode won't have all the eye candy. But then again, it's not like an 8600GT will be able to run it on high settings. The setup your talking about will probably run it on low-medium settings.

    I think DFI is very overrated. Yes, they let you tweak more than other brands, but often it's a battle just to achieve stability and their BIOS's have never inspired confidence.

    A+ is such a simple cert that I doubt anyone will ask for the certificate, although they may be more likely to do so if you don't have prior experience, which of course would take precedence over a stupid multiple choice quiz.

    XP or Vista for a gamer?

    I'd say quite the opposite. XP can do everything Vista can from a productivity standpoint, but Vista is better for gaming because it's the only way to run games in DX10. Now the 8500GT is far to weak to really take advantage of DX10, but going forward, the point stands.
