Depending on what you use your computer for, the XP's are just fine. You ordered the Mobile version so I asume you want to do some overclocking. If you have PC3200 (400fsb) RAM this is a very easy task to take the 2500+ 1.83ghz to 2.4ghz.
I've got myself a MSI K8N Neo2 and have recently traded my 3200+ (Maxed @ 2.5) for a 2.8+ 3000+. I am using 2x512 KingstonValueRAM PC3200. One stick is kingston branded while the other is inferion, but they work just fine in dual channel. The sticks are rated cas 3 at 200mhz, but they're 100%...
desperate bump -- nobody else had such an issue? i've heard stuff about the 166 divider being bad with ballstitics...is their any truth behind that? I guess I could being having a simmilar issue. I'll try to get my hands on some different PC3200 and leave a follow up.

did you recently update your bios? it could have been reading the temps wrong before...this issue makes no sense, so i wouldnt bother to analyze it too much

prime95 24 hour stable at 250x10 @ 1.47vcore, but fail after 10 minutes at 255x10 @ all the way up to 1.6vcore. all of this with HTT on 2x and a 1:2 mem divider...500mhz still aint bad tho :D
