AvP 3
System Shock 3 (SS was better than Deus Ex by a wide margin!)
The game I'd most love to see would be an FPS/RPG something like Oblivion is, but set Sci-Fi thriller like System Shock 2. Completely open ended, skills improved either by leveling up (exp from killing stuff) or improved...
Good game, though plagued by a lot of bugs and balance issues. Easy battles after a fairly short play time.
I still play it at times, but I never did manage to get into playing a science guy...straight mage for me! :P
I use GameTap. There's no limit to the # of games you can download, and they have a lot of current stuff as well as old stuff stretching back to the 80's arcade games, but you do have to download everything. Nothing is ever shipped to you, and you do have to access the games via their client...
Hmm...maybe I should pull out my 4 disc version and sell it if it's selling that high.
You can download and play Torment if you get a Gametap subscription. Once your subscription runs out, you won't be able to play it anymore though. Gametap has a lot of games running from older stuff like...
If you want to look into MMO's, you could try completely ignoring all the "retail" stuff out there like all of those previously suggested, and try out some fairly high quality freebies.
I would recommend you pay a visit to www.mmorpg.com, and check out their game list. Sort it by rank/hype...
Games are getting more expensive to make because companies are devoting more and more of their development time to creating the most eye candy they can, trying to take advantage of every latest gidget developed for computers.
Forget trying to produce games that are on the bleeding edge of...
What you will need to do is just find a server that isn't run by immature punks. If you are a Day of Defeat classic player, you could try Wrath of Khan, The Destroyers Clan, RoadHouse, or any of the Merril's Marauders servers. Of those, if you have a kid you allow to also play DoD classic, the...
Alien vs. Predator 2. The Terran campaign part of the game had some incredible suspense for the first few missions, despite nothing happening in them.
Fallout and Fallout 2. While they are fun to replay with a different style of character, it would be nice to forget where all the better...
If you are preordering through Gamestop (stupid to, they're overpriced), what you are getting isn't already opened. They sell a fair bit of brand new, unopened software...they just happen to also have used stuff too is all.
No, it wasn't Ancients. Shareware has never died...you can still find plenty of things in various genres.
Something Heatsinker said rang a very small bell, and after some searching I think we might have the answer.
Morder II: Darkness Awakening looks VERY close to what we had played...I...
It wasn't a mainstream game like all those. Like I said, it was a shareware game for a long time before being bought by one of the big (at the time, dunno about now) game companies, but I don't think anything was actually ever done with it. I don't believe it ever hit store shelves, it was...
I think there was some sort of jail or cages where you could "hire" various monsters at times, but they were hideously expensive. The Shareware version only allowed you to wander the top 5 or so levels of the dungeon.
It was a 1st person 3d rpg, and you had a party of up to 6 I think. I...
