Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
In my experience, with WD drives the read/write error rates should normally stay at 0. Since it's just 5 & 22, it's not serious at this point, but may indicate future problems.
I've got a Samsung F1 with some known corrupted files. Every time I try to access those files, the read error rate...
What component(s) have been the most failure prone in the PCs that you have owned?
For me, it's probably the motherboard. I've had 3 MBs fail during 2000-2011. I've also experienced the following failures:
2 failed optical drives (Lite-On, Samsung)
1 blown PSU (generic)
1 failed HDD...
It is strange that the 1TB Black has the second lowest failure rate of 1TB drives, while the 2TB black has the highest failure rate of 2TB drives. Newegg reviews do seem to point in the same direction (1 egg: 9% vs 21%). There's also a reliability database over at StorageReview...
I think it depends on the HDD model and manufacturer. For Hitachis and Seagates big values are usually normal, even for new drives. With Samsung (and possibly WD) drives, it does in my experience often relate to actual errors. Their raw read error rate normally stays at 0, but starts climbing if...
Hi,
Does anyone have experiences regarding the Hitachi E7K1000? I might get one for my desktop since I'd like to try a Hitachi HDD and it has better warranty/MTBF than the 7K1000.C. I can get it for just 20€ more. I think it's an enterprise class drive, but strangely called a "Deskstar"...
Thanks for the replies.
I've also noticed that new PSUs have PCI-E 6+2 (8) pin connectors. My current video card uses 2 x 6pin, so how can I make it work with the 6+2 pin ones? Do I need a special cable for that, or just leave the 2 pins unused?
Hi,
I'm looking for a PSU for my gaming PC. It should be a quality PSU with a good price-performance ratio. In addition to powering the current rig, it should be powerful enough to allow upgrading to a new GPU later on. I'm not planning to use SLI.
I've been looking at the Corsair TX650...
Hi,
I'm planning to buy an X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro sound card, but I'm not 100% sure if it will fit on the MB, Asus P5Q Pro. I'm using a large video card (GeForce GTX 260), which takes up one of the PCI-E x1 slots, leaving 2 free x1 slots. One is right below the GPU and the other one above...
