Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
I went with the Nortel (80EUR on eBay)
So far it does the job. It also has plenty of options via web interface and CLI :)
It has four 40mm fans, so it's quite loud. Also the PINs are non standard (like the Dell). + and - are reversed. I ordered replacements and let you know how it works...
Good point to take the power usage into account.
My panel has 36 ports. I need another 8 Ports for PCs directly connected to the switch. So I really need an 48 port switch. But only about 20 ports are actively used.
@firedrow: Do you have power consumption figures for the PowerConnect 5448?
exactly.
The price tag on these is certainly interesting. I'll take a closer look. Thanks.
Sorry about the trouble with the picture. Hopefully this hoster is working for you guys

The kids are growing and I need to update my internal network security. I plan to split my LAN into several VLANs and manage them with a smart switch. I'm looking at two models which fit my budget and seem to cover my use case.
1) Netgear GS748Tv5
2) TP-Link TL-SG2452
Anyone has...
Did you consider this USB 2.0 card: startech.com PEXUSB400? The spec suggests that it contains independent ports and it should be possible to passthrough each port to an individual VM. It requires only an x1 slot.
This post (http://vmware-forum.de/viewtopic.php?t=29679) suggests that the USB...
Great news, thanks again for four effort.
Actually I asked for the x1 and PCI on the 990FXA-UD3 :)
The x4 is the one not working on my 970A-UD3 rev. 1.2.
I don't expect any issues with the x4 and x16 on the 990FXA, otherwise we would have heard about it :)
Thanks for the info, but I want to stick with AMD so I can reuse my CPU.
Also the server components seem quite price, anyway more than I want to spend at the moment.
Hi, I'm currently using ESXi 5.5 with a Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 rev. 1.2. Passthrough is working great with the PCIe x16 slot and the onboard USB 3.0 ports.
Passthrough is not working with the two PCI and the PCIe x4 slots, which are connected to the SB950 southbridge. This seems to be a known...
