bought a new sony drive and i'm still having the same problem.

The DVD drive was 4th in boot sequence. I changed it to be the first boot device. I also went to the boot priority and disabled the hard drive. The IDE drive is not my main drive.

When I turn my PC on, the drive is listed as a DVD Drive, once I open the drive it changes to DVD RAM Drive.

now the hard drive is making a loud humming noise and the beep comes in like every 10 seconds. And the smaller chip on the bottom of the hard drive heats up extremely fast and gets VERY hot.

my resolution for CS:S is 1280x960, vsync was disabled and AA is none. All the settings are recommended to be high, I have them set to medium though due to my fps crapping out.

I did all the directions in part 1 saw only about 10 fps increase, so I tried the second install directions but I couldn't seem to get regcleaner to work properly. I followed the rest of the directions and still saw only a 10 fps increase in the 3dmark05 program.
