    Upgrade from P45 and E8500 to P55 and i7 860

I'm definitely going to try what you propose when I replace my Gigabyte EP35-DS3R and E84000 with a P55 and i7 860. I recently did this for my bosses computer at work. He had an old Dell 1.7 GHz P4 running XP and I ghosted his old machine and installed the image on a new HP Core 2 Duo...

PC swtiches itself back on after shutdown (GA-EP35 DS3)

I have a GA-EP35-DS3R and I'm not seeing this problem so I doubt it's a BIOS issue. As the previous poster said, it might be a bad power supply. Try that first.

    Corruption errors

If the DVD drive is SATA, a very likely cause for this problem is that the SATA controller is set for AHCI mode in the BIOS but the DVD drive isn't compatible with AHCI. Most optical SATA drives will not work properly with AHCI and will produce read errors. If the DVD drive is SATA, try...

E8400, my OC results seem a bit... gimp

At 4 GHz, I see max temps of 52 C running Orthos or Prime, but at 4.3 GHz, I was seeing temps more than 10 degrees higher.

E8400, my OC results seem a bit... gimp

Maybe I got lucky because my E8400 has been running solidly at 4 GHz for the past 3 months using only 1.325V for the CPU. I've taken it to 4.3 GHz with 1.350V but the CPU temps were too high for my liking with my current cooler. It is 100% stable in Prime 95 (both cores) and Orthos. I'm...

    P35 Overclocking questions

I recently upgraded from an AMD 3800+ X2 also and got the Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3R and the E8400. It has proven to be an outstanding combination. I run the E8400 at 4 GHz (9x444 MHz) on air-cooling and it has been 100% stable. I can go up to 4.3 GHz but the CPU temperatures are higher than I'm...

    E8400

I agree 100%. I built an E8400 system with 4G of RAM and the GA-EP35-DS3R several months ago and it has been running completely stable at 4 GHz. I've had it up to 4.3 GHz but it runs too hot for my taste on air cooling. Been playing with Server 2008 as a replacement for Vista and Server...

Longevity testing & Bad ASUS experiences

I used to buy Asus boards because they were well made and performed well. But the last couple of Asus boards I bought have had problems with USB ports dying (2 of them) and intermittent posting. Some of my friends have also had reliability problems with recent Asus boards so I've sworn off...

    Help on E8400 voltages please

I have an E8400 and my default voltage is also 1.225 like yours. I've been running at 4 GHz for several months now with the CPU voltage set to 1.325. With both cores loaded running Orthos, the CPU voltage drops to 1.280 but it is very stable, passing Orthos and Prime 95 stress tests. With...

Unable to wake computer up from sleep mode when overclocked (GA-X38-DS4)

I finally was able to get my EP35-DS3R to return from Standby properly without the endless starts and stops. All I did was go into the BIOS and set the CPU and memory voltages manually instead of using the Auto mode. Now Standby works perfectly. Maybe this will work for you, too.

GA-P35-DS3R - Problem with Front USB Headers

For what it's worth, I have the GA-EP35-DS3R and E8400 overclocked to 4GHz in an Antec Sonata III case and the front USB ports work great. My previous build was an Abit A8V in the original Antec Sonata case and I could never get the front USB ports to work properly but they seem to have...

    EP35 vs P35?

I presume you mean the Gigabyte EP35 series of motherboards. I recently purchased the GA-EP35-DS3R to match with an E8400 Wolfdale (Penryn) CPU. I didn't care about the energy saving features (they don't work when the board is overclocked) but it was the same price as the P35 version and it...

Unable to wake computer up from sleep mode when overclocked (GA-X38-DS4)

For what it's worth, I'm having exactly the same problem with my EP35-DS3R with BIOS F3b. When overclocked and coming out of Standby, the board keeps powering on and off every few seconds. Fortunately, turning off the power supply restores normal operation and the board will then boot but it...

    Gateway FPD2485W - 24" HD LCD

You're right, reducing the contrast to eliminate eyeball burnout :p will increase color banding due to an effective reduction in the dynamic range of each pixel. I guess I'm lucky, however, because the banding on my monitor is minimal and doesn't produce blotchy skin tones on pictures. I...
