For the tl;drs: It doesn't blow up, it doesn't down clock in games and the thermal camera readings meassure the power regulation circuitry, nothing to worry about. *popcorn*
Depends on the game and resolution obviously.
Though, for what those cards are intended, I'd agree that AMD delivers a better performance.

IQ is obviously better on ISP panels than on TNs. It doesn't matter whether it's running Windows or OS X.
