just got my X1900XTX, what i like and dislike (compared to GF6800GT)

hi H-street. i put up a post a couple of days ago, i am thinking of replacing my 6800gts with a single 1900xtx. how do you find your image quality and frame rates now.

    this may sound daft, but....

if it was to be a hard launch, i could wait to see what the 7900 has to offer. i assume this is what you guys are reffering to.

thx PRIME1, you are probably right but when i upgrade i put as much overkill in as i can afford, i reckon you get a bit more use out of the gear that way.

i think we were typing at the same time cooter. my cards were great for games that were designed for them, they just seem to be lacking a bit in the latest games. do you reckon i will see a substantial improvement with the xtx.

i would need a fair leap in performance for the upgrade and i was hopeing that i could do that with a single card as upgrading sli is an expensive business. if the x1900xtx cant do it, what is the 7900 expected to deliver.

    this may sound daft, but....

i dont want to start playing the waiting game, if we all did that no one would ever buy anything. i just want to know if it would be worth putting the x1900xtx on an sli board.

i have always been an nvidia man and my rig is an sli setup. 2x6800gts on an asus a8nsli deluxe. much as i like sli, i am going to upgrade my gfx soon and am keen to get away from the money pit that is sli. would an x1900xtx work well on this board and would it be a worthwhile upgrade from my...

    SLI n00b with questions

the sli bridge will come with the mobo. for games that use sli, you dont have to do anything, it will automatically run in sli. clock your original card back before adding the other one. if you use coolbits it will clock both cards together. cant help with that mobo im afraid.

    Hooking up the SLI

dont think it matters about the bridge. i am on an asus a8n sli board and my monitor plugs into the top card, if you state your motherboard someone will confirm for you.

mayhs, it was fear that first got me thinking about my cards. i was used to cranking everything up to max at 1280x1024 but fear struggled. i run it at 1152x864 all textures at max with 2xaa and 4xaf, soft shadows off. anything more and i get a bit of slowdown.

i wont have these cards for a year, overclocking them is a stop gap untill i can upgrade in maybe 3 or 4 months time. i do like my sli setup and have considered 2x 7800gt. whadya think, does that sound reasonable or should i sell one of the kids and get gtx`s.
