Yeah, that's what I've ended up doing. I'm using the DVI and VGA inputs on the HP ZR24W, and using a DVI to VGA cable to go from the DVI of the video card to the VGA of the monitor. It works, but the image quality is not as good. Oh well.
Can this be done?
Here is the situation:
I have 1 desktop computer, 1 laptop computer, 1 HP ZR24w monitor, and 1 Hp LP2065 monitor. I want to be able to use the ZR24W with both computers (switching between inputs). The ZR24W has 1 DVI, 1 Display Port, and 1 VGA inputs. My desktop...
Yes, I am aware that the hpzr24w is a good 24" IPS monitor. However, it is not between $200-$300. So, are there any good 24" IPS monitors in the $200-$300 range (presumably this would be a 16:9 monitor)?
I'm trying to pick out a gaming laptop for my nephew. I quickly put together an HP dvt7 for $800, but I'm not sure how "future proof" it is:

• 1GB DDRD3 ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD...
What specifically makes it worse for other types of games? Color reproduction? Color distortion at edges due to poorer viewing angles? Contrast? Black levels? All of the above?
This is false. The human eye can detect well over 30 frames per second, and even over 200 frames per second.

It seems to me that he was asking you to backup a statement you made as a fact with evidence. Is this something that is not done often on message boards?
I was always under the impression that LCD panels were better for eye strain than CRT monitors. Am I misinformed? Will a good CRT, presumable with a high refresh rate, result in similar (negligible) eye strain to a LCD panel?
You seem to have a real issue with reading comprehension. No where does it say he doesn't understand your opinion. It's the fact that you seem to dismiss other people's opinion. When you say someone must either be "rich or stupid" to pay for a particular monitor, this is dismissing their...
