What 3D settings do you use?

7900GT 520/1500 Depends on the game, but I always shoot for at least 4xAA/8xAF, soft shadows off if the game has the option, HDR on or off depending on the engine (in Source I leave it on), 1280x960. Any game that won't run respectably at anything less isn't worth playing, afaic. Getting the...

    Considering an upgrade... advice?

I've heard that Alan Wake, at the very least, will absolutely *require* dual core. Intel's Hyperthreading may work, may not. Read it in some PC Gamer mag a couple months ago. Any suggesionts though? Thanks. edit: oh, and if 2007 games don't require dual core, but support it, it couldn't...

    Considering an upgrade... advice?

WARNING: This is fairly long, but I have some great questions I'd love answered. You guys have always been extremely helpful! My parents have been quite generous since they moved out of state, and I'm pretty sure they want to buy me some computer gadgets for xmas so I can rebuild my...

    8800GTS price?

Ack!!!! Don't remind me! I had to RMA 3 times just to get a good 7900GT from XFX. It took 2 months from the day I built my new rig to actually play games on it. But when I got a working one, damn it was sweet. I loves it so bad, and I'll love it badder when I SLI soon.

    8800GTS price?

IMHO, $499 for a GTS just ain't worth it. Already have a 7900GT EE and getting another one to SLI would probably be a better option. And while that setup wouldn't be future-proof, it'd last me a long, long time. That and I know for sure 2x7900GT's will run with absolutely no problem on my...

Scythe Ninja or Ultra-120 + xxx Fan?

Are there any Ultra reviews that compare it to the SI-120? I'm just curious how the two compare. Seems like the Ultra and Ninja are *almost* equal, but the Ultra cools 1-3C more. Not bad.

    opty 165 overclocking help

Nice mem overclock! Mine craps out at around 236-241, depending on ambient temp. Haven't tried raising the voltage yet, but I'll try that the next time I get the OC bug. :)

    opty 165 overclocking help

Opty 146 1.5v@2.9ghz on air cooling. I didn't have to do anything special except lower the memory speed, as my Corsair XMS couldn't handle that huge overclock.

Scythe Ninja or Ultra-120 + xxx Fan?

Outdated or not, the Ninja is still hands down the best CPU cooler I have ever tested. And I've tested a lot. Though I still have yet to test my SI-120.

    Spyware Doctor - $10 off!

This is one of those programs that's just worth paying for hands down. Detects spy/malwae better than ANY other ant-malware program. You can go and enjoy the full functionality of this goodie for 30 days before it expires. Or you can buy it. For ten dollars off! In the coupon code in the...

    AMD Super HOT Coupons!!

The ones originally posted don't work anymore, but monarch does have quite a few OEM Optys for supercheap, and who wants to run a cpu with a stock cooler anyway? :)

Down to the wire... cpu/gpu air cooling?

I have all my components but my CPU and Mobo. I am getting an Epox 9npa+sli mobo as soon as ZZF has them in stock, and an Opteron 146 cause apparently they're the absolute best for overclocking. My question - CPU coolers. Zalman CNPS9500-Cu or Zalman CNPS7700-Cu? I am running a Zalman...

    Your LCD experiences...

At what response time do you notice horrible, intolerable ghosting? Looking at a Dell 2007WFP in this catalog and the price is nice, and I like the Dell LCDs' ability to display accurate colors. Problem is, it's 16ms response time, which I've heard varying things on. Some people can deal with...

ATI tool - what would cause this?

I remember when I had an ATI card it automatically stopped when it was at its limit. I guess the nvidia code is just too new and the checks aren't in place yet. Admittedly, my bad. Was just expecting the same behaviour that I've seen in the past.
