You can use Widows Firewall and an IPSec policy to limit the servers access to just the DC's it needs for authentication then allow it outbound access to the internet.

It no longer has an IMEI so it is not recognizable on the network. It's useless for a phone.

Years ago I had an Android phone that I flashed a ROM on that reset the IMEI to all 0's. There was no way to change it and the only solution was to send it back to the manufacturer to reflash. Maybe the seller had the same issue and flashed the stock firmware back on?

Wow, I'd have to imagine that there is a huge jump in quality when you are 'upgrading' every 7 years. What do you expect the quality improvement to be like when you purchase your next hearing aid in a couple of years?

That's a good point but the continued R & D and production runs still costs them well over a billion dollar per year run rate. At some point Wall Street will demand they cut their losses entirely.
