You can use Widows Firewall and an IPSec policy to limit the servers access to just the DC's it needs for authentication then allow it outbound access to the internet.

problem with using vzn note 2

Years ago I had an Android phone that I flashed a ROM on that reset the IMEI to all 0's. There was no way to change it and the only solution was to send it back to the manufacturer to reflash. Maybe the seller had the same issue and flashed the stock firmware back on?

    Smartphones quality as phones

Wow, I'd have to imagine that there is a huge jump in quality when you are 'upgrading' every 7 years. What do you expect the quality improvement to be like when you purchase your next hearing aid in a couple of years?

    Microsoft Lumia 950 & 950 XL

Google isn't going to make any universal windows apps. They already make a win32 app that runs on every windows system on the planet. Why would they also write for Win10 which is only 100m users? Chrome runs on 1.5 billion desktops. Google doesn't need Microsoft at all. Their entire business...

Windows Phone marketshare sinks to 1.7%

That's a good point but the continued R & D and production runs still costs them well over a billion dollar per year run rate. At some point Wall Street will demand they cut their losses entirely.

Windows Phone marketshare sinks to 1.7%

All of the apps are missing and the ones in the WP store are old, outdated, missing new features, or have been abandoned by the developer. Then there is the piece of garbage knock off 3rd party apps that MS either paid for and are abandoned or are from random devs. Even the 1st party apps aren't...

New 2nd gen Amazon Fire TV with 4k support and Alexa built in

When BD came out discs were $35 - $45 a piece in the first year. Sure, they will eventually get cheaper when demand picks up but I seriously doubt the general public will adopt 4K BD. It just doesn't offer and sizable advantage over existing BD or streaming content. So it may stay a niche market...

New 2nd gen Amazon Fire TV with 4k support and Alexa built in

Who cares? They allow you to watch the content that you have rented or purchased which is exactly what they are supposed to do. And with a HTPC you wont be seeing anything in 4K on it. The Netflix/Amazon apps don't stream 4K to a PC, there wont be 4K BD on it, and there isn't any cable content...

Having trouble installing Win 7 to a new SSD/Rig with USB

The USB 3.0 ports should be backward compatible with 2.0, if the drive is detected and is booting to the install then this means it is working. However, the corrupt image is a possibility as I had this happen a few times. Usually it would try to install and get to 3% then bluescreen.

"WMC support for Netflix ends September 15", apparently

I'm not sure why you think going x86 would change anything. It wont get consumer to buy the phone and it wont get developers to write apps for it.
