    Just checked the specs on the WH14NS40, and I guess the 8.6x was on a BD-ROM or BD-R SL, as it is rated at 12x peak on that media type. An 8.6x average read would be fairly consistent with my GGC-H20L results; average speed being around 70% of peak. My CH08LS10 is still a bit of a mystery though.

    I wonder if anyone could recommend a BD-ROM drive that offers good read performance? All the ones I can find seem to state 8x BD-ROM DL and 12x (or 8x) BD-ROM SL, but I somehow doubt that they are identical when it comes to real-world performance. Thanks :)
