Totally agree, it’s a phone, if it can make calls I’m happy. My iPhone 5 lasted me until 2021 so I bought an iPhone 12 mini. I’ll be holding onto the 12 until it no longer functions properly in 7 or so years.
Okay good! I was about to comment that the first gen ryzen motherboards are notorious for having barely adequate VRMs so although a 5900x would socket in and turn on I would be very surprised if your CPU didn’t throttle due to VRM thermals and voltage ripple. That B550 is much better built
I mean that would be the route that I would go, I bought a laptop with a discrete gpu in it so I could play my games on business trips (which is like 70% of my year) and I tried to play once and hated it. Some laptop gaming lovers are gonna hate me but theres just something about having a 34”...
Interesting, it could be the new pcie5 signal amplifiers that need to be used along the traces to the pcie slots, as the pcie5 protocol’s drawback to the higher throughput is increased signal degradation over travel distance, maybe they are causing the compatibility issues with pcie gen 4...
Hmm that is very interesting….is it a brand new 6900xt? Right now with the info you’ve given me it’s hard to pin point the problem. The only thing I can think of is thaw fact that pcie1 is a full 16x and pcie2 is 4x, perhaps there is a fault on the other 12 pcie lanes on the graphics card that...

Hey didn’t know this thread was still getting hits. So update, the motherboard for the 6700k got warped in storage and so several cpu coolers I tried couldn’t get a good seat on the heat spreader, getting 93C on prime 95 at stock settings. So just decided to open my wallet and got him a new core...
Nope I run a sealed positive air pressure system with ultra fine mesh filters. Visually checked my psu and the internals still look shiny and new 9 years later. Plus look up the component data sheets for the capacitors, mosfets, etc. and you will see that their lifespan is inversely correlated...
Hi all, so my brother’s wife’s son is looking to build his first PC and they don’t have the funds to pay for it. I offered to use my old components just sitting in my closet. My question is which cpu would be better for his computer for modern games. A 4c/8t 6700k that will remain stock as it is...
