im not sure it would be the best time to be compiling parts for an HTPC, i'm sure there will be better and cheaper parts by wintertime, but other than that, it looks fine, and like what everyone said, the vid card isnt needed
i have this desk too, it warps quite easily, or that's cuz of my poor construction or something. It's not the sturdiest desk, but if you assemble it properly, you should be fine

the HDMI out on the motherboard goes into the TV
then how do i hook up the sound from the HTPC to the receiver? CAn i use a toslink cable and hook it up to the optical out on the back of the mobo and hook it up to the receiver?
