    Took the 7870 XT two days back and its all good :) Now, I never overclocked and I assume the best way to do it is via catalyst software overdrive tab. So, do I just have to change settings in overdrive (GPU Clock, Memory Clock) and I am all set ?

    DDR3 1600 vs 2400

    There is a small benefit with higher Mhz, but then it doesn't warrant purchase of a new set of Ram when you are already having one.... Just use what you are having as it doesn't make much sense to buy a new one.
