    A more practical solution to hide it is make a shroud of nice looking cloth to cover the whole thing. If done right it would give the room some great texture. You could even light it with track spotlights or something similar.

    You can lock your computer with Windows key + L, as well as encrypt folders so that only people with your login credentials can access the files contained within. I don't know of any built-in password protection solution in Windows though. And if you can't trust your friends.. hmmm...
